Has Quill been mentioned yet? Quill performed at Woodstock...

Another I just remembered-
The Butts Band (post-Doors, w/ Robbie Krieger & John Densmore).

I dug the Butts Band, my first albums with Phil Chen.

See...I did not know Phil Chen was in The Butts Band until today.
I recall a Randall Amp (IIRC) ad in '70s-era Guitar Player mags with a different bassist...IIRC, he was playing an Alembic.

I never saw Vanilla Fudge mentioned in 21 pages primarily because they were mainly 60's but did go through the early 70's before breaking up..but Tim Bogert was/is an exceptional bass player way ahead of his time on his Fender bass..great hit song from Vanilla Fudge.."You Keep Me Hangin' On"
I also second The Raspberries with Eric Carmen.

Yes, Captain Beyond
This is and was for me the ultimate cult band. Many Military Brats loved these guys, Wishbone Ash and Trapeze("Touch My Life"). We got exposed to some bands that I rarely hear of from civilian kids. In 1974 my band narrowly beat out a Captain Beyond/Johnny Winter Tribute band for the grand prize! I recreated Lee Dorman's bass for myself.

Andy Powell was the remaining original member that toured this past spring performing Argus in it's entirety. Martin Turner has toured with his own line-up billed as "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash".

I loved Wishbone Ash and Flash as the Alternatives to excessive Synth stuff. Argus is an exceptional album and IMHO as good as any Prog rock of the era. Dig that T-bird with Rotosounds into a 370 I do believe. "Time Was" and "Blowin' Free"...Then there's always the Pat Travers Band with Mars on bass....he a bluddy monster.

Ten Years After

Hell yeah,
Saw them in the early 70's
I don't know why but the awesomeness of it kinda freaked me out at the time.
Standing 10 feet from the stage watching Alvin Lee playing "I'm Going Home" with his lightening fast lead lines
and Leo Lyons attacking his bass strings like a maniacal dog who just chased gopher down a hole and was frantically
trying to dig him out.
Must have had some kind of longterm effect on me because I've spent my entire bass career trying to lighten my touch on the strings.
