Formula 1/F1/Formula One

Gee, give me a second to put on my shocked face. :D

As great of a driver as Lewis is, this chatter of "will he drive in '22 over what happened in the season finale?" is the biggest primadonna pseudo-move I've seen in the sports world in quite some time.

Most of us believe last year's race at Abu Dhabi was handled poorly by Michael Masi and the stewards... Mercedes got hosed and they're upset. But for Lewis to put this "I'm undecided on my F1 future" chatter out there a month before the car is unveiled is absurd... however, it shouldn't be a surprise. Lewis is a primadonna -- listen to him on the radio on any Sunday afternoon when things aren't going his way and you'll see that he over-dramatizes everything.

Of course Lewis was going to drive for Mercedes this year! Who did he think he was gonna fool? So why make a ridiculous statement like that to the press? The answer: because Lewis is an even bigger legend in his mind, he wants the public pity party and he knows the British press will jump up and down and run such a non-story.

We all know he reads TalkBass (he's a big Dingwall fan), so Lewis -- we're happy you got your little head-clearing trip to the Grand Canyon out of the way. It's now time to come back, put your big boy firesuit on and drive.

What a joke... the whole thing makes me want to puke. :smug:

They only do themselves a dis service if they let it be a melodrama instead of of men in feats of daring at high speed, thats what real fans want, not a bunch of whiney bitches , thats what social medias for.

That being said I'm really digging the new cars being debuted, let them buckle in and settle things on the race track. Hopefully the sanctioning body can stay out of its own way this year and we can see some top notch competition.

I'm happy to see him back. After not just one, but two travesties that cost him the championship last season, I hope he gets this one. And I kinda like that Mercedes is silver, even if it's got some cluttered up, ugly stuff going on. If it was just plain silver that would be about right, so far as I'm concerned. I realize it can't look like the Silver Bullet, but why can't it look closer than it does?

Yeah, I'm a crank. Never mind.

If it gets off the ground, Michael would be wise to secure the services of an existing shop and personnel in Europe, preferably the U.K. It would be very tough for him to try to build cars in America with folks based iin the U.S., especially if they've never competed in F1.

Last fall, it appeared that Michael tried to acquire Alfa Romeo. Only guessing that would've been a re-naming of the team and fitting them with new sponsors.

I'm sure Michael wants to call the shots for the team. He knows too much about racing to settle for seeing his money float a team while someone else steers the ship.

I wish him all the best of luck. He's going to need it. I wonder how he plans to go about building a competitive car. It's not like you can run an Indy car.

Didnt Dan Gurney compete in F1 in his own designed and built "Eagle" series of race cars back in the day ?

Now that we are going to have not one but two F1 races here it would seem like an american built race car could be something for fans in this country to get behind.

We went to the moon for christ sake, we ought to be able to build one those F1 cars.

Keywords: "back in the day"

F1 is so competitive these days, I just don't see a team in the U.S. being able to keep up.

Even Gene Haas is using a U.K. shop for his HQ. The facility in North Carolina is not doing the heavy lifting... it's more marketing, licensing, etc.

Um... no, not what I was saying at all. Lewis is a drama queen, plain and simple.

What you're insinuating is not cool whatsoever. Feel free to take that elsewhere -- it doesn't belong in this thread or on this site.

He's saying the 'boy' should know his place. That kinda opinion's been articulated a lot over the years by certain follk, shouldn't really come as a surprise to hear it again.
