I’ve always enjoyed watching Danny Ric drive (“the last of the late brakers”, but not in a McLaren, unfortunately) and think he’s a fun guy during an interview. Hope he can find a seat in a car that suits him better.
A little surprised at Lando’s attitude, more behind the scenes I expect at McLaren.

I agree 100%. F1 is in the midst of a certain click of drivers. Youth marches on. I'm a fairly new fan to the sport, but it certainly seems clear that guys Rics age are on the downside. They start SO young and become pro's so young too. I've learned a lot watching the Netflix F1 Drive to Survive series.
Maybe the McLaren's brakes aren't up to the task?
Danny's not nearly as old as some of the other drivers; in fact (?), he's probably right in the middle, age-wise.

Is he? I just recall seeing him on Top Gear years ago when the boys were still on ( although I really like the cast of Paddy, Chris and Freddy ) I'm still wet behind the ears insofar as F1 goes.
There's no doubt Alpine is on the rise, yet I will be extremely surprised if Danielle gets Alonso's ride. Why? I simply don't see the drive in that guy and I sense that other team bosses feel the same. He seems more pre-occupied with being a social media goofball and spending time in the U.S. I know he's won a few races (mostly when Red Bull was eating everyone's lunch years ago)... but when the going gets tough, that guy caves. If I'm Otmar, I'd rather put Hulkenburg in that ride (everyone remember when he sub'd at Racing Point a few years ago?) or take a risk on an F2 guy.
I'll eat my Autosport annuals if Danielle gets Hamilton's ride. Na-gonna-happen.

Is this Ham essentially admitting that Mercedes went the wrong direction with the design of their car?
As a racing enthusiast someone who enjoys the company of nice people, I can only think of one Formula 1 race that would be more annoying to attend than the Red Bull Ring in Austria... and that would be Zandvoort. Oy vey...
Similar to Monaco, Zandvoort is simply terrible for the huge cars of today. It might've been a sweet track for the smaller F1 cars from back in the day. But today, sports cars and motorcycles need to be the only vehicles competing there.
I like Mattia Binotto... but he's gonna end up taking the fall for Ferrari's woes. Pit strategy miscues were bad enough but geez Louise, not having all the tires ready when your car rolls in for a stop? No one else on the grid is screwing up that bad. As Nico Rosberg noted, everyone is waiting for their next f-up from race to race.
Lewis was cranky today... and this week, he was very complimentary of Red Bull. Wonder what's going on there? He's currently contracted through the end of 2023.
One of the blurbs I read this week had Ricciardo going to Mercedes to be a back-up driver? I don't see that happening. Jenson Button (advisor to Williams) says Danny Rick-to-Williams would be a great move. Latifi needs to go... and while Albon has run decent lately, Williams is still gonna struggle.
Mick Schumacher is reported to be parting ways with the Ferrari Academy at the end of '22 and will be free to seek other rides. Haas wouldn't be a bad place for Ricciardo to land -- Haas has a decent car and the Ferrari power ain't too shabby.
So... Lando and Piastri at McLaren next year. Eager to see how that plays out. I can't wait for Lando to bag his first victory. At 22, that kid is contracted though the end of 2025. Man, I bet he wishes he had signed such a long deal with McLaren, especially if Lewis bows out.
Sky crew claimed that Alpine losing Piastri and Alonso was due to the top brass at Renault, those above Otmar. Their supposed plan was to send Piastri to Williams for a couple of seasons and then put him in the Alpine. Interesting.
Sounds like Gasly has got the Alpine seat locked up, giving the French team an all-French line-up next year. As long as they don't miss with the chassis, they should be solid next season.
The Alonso-to-Aston deal is still a big talking point. Alonso is no dummy and this move is all about the money. The Aston guys have got to be thrilled to have a solid competitor onboard. Alonso knows he won't be running in the points with those guys... just putting steaks in the freezer, like when De Niro and Pacino did Righteous Kill.
A few months ago, Toto said he wanted to drop one of the teams Mercedes supplies engines to. Obviously, this implies Aston or Williams. Something to keep an eye on.
This season is tuning out to be a snoozer. Welp, at least Max is going to win the title fair and square this year!

He did acknowledge he had gone too far and expressed regret. “I was just on the edge of breaking point with emotions and my apologies to the team because I don’t even remember what I said. I just lost it for a second. But I think they know that there is just so much passion.”

To be fair to Zandvoort, it was an exciting race, overall, and with no serious issues and lots of passing (IIRC, the only DNFs were due to mechanical failures, although, not exactly sure what was up in Tsunoda's case).

I hear ya... but Vettel wasn't exactly setting the world on fire his last year at Ferrari. Sure, the car had a lot to do with it, but at least Alonso is regularly scoring points with a team that's not exactly top-level. Alonso's a true racer.

I'll preface this by reminding folks I am a newborn F1 fan, however I am more than a little cynical as well. The "breakdowns on the track" seemed a little too convenient to me. Also, why did Merc intentionally screw over Lewis ( can it be anything else??? ) It just makes zero sense to me why they gave up every advantage, gave the 2nd tier driver the better tyres then acted like it was the correct strategic move.

A lot of the time the drivers may make the final decision on whether to come in to the pits or not. George chose to get fresh tires and softs were the obvious choice that late in the race. Lewis did not, from what I can tell.
I wouldn't read some big conspiracy into what happened.
George pushed for new tires. Lewis didn't. It may have been a bad decision but to say it was to intentionally screw over Lewis seems a bit of a stretch in my opinion.
