Agreed, despite the many serious missteps leading up to the event the actual race itself was quite entertaining.I was very surprised to see that the race, itself, was fantastic.![]()

No more until those who won't see the race for a couple of days get to watch it.
I think it would become almost a non-issue if the track wasn't so green; there are venues on the circuit with considerably tighter areas than that. IMO the combo of like-new asphalt and no seasoning was much more of a factor than was the actual layout (and, of course, running at night in the desert near the end of Fall!).One thing I could see being improved is there are a couple corners that could be widened a bit by just moving the kerbs closer to the walls. One such corner is the one where LeClerc went wide; the track is just squeezed too tight in those places.
Can you quote it here. I don't do IG.Big props to the Mercedes F1 social media team...

Thanks! Nice to Toto in it. Maybe Susie's in the uniform? They made a video of someone in George's suit and helmet doing Hugh Grant's dance sequence from the film, Love Actually = very funny.
Here it is on TikTok. I don't TikTok or have an account and was able to view it...

Similar to 2023, I'll be in an F1 pool with a friend of mine for 2024. Here's how it works: we each get four drivers for the season. With Red Bull being so dominant, their drivers are off limits, so the remaining nine teams are divided into three tiers:
Top tier - Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin
Mid tier - Alpine, Williams, AlphaTauri
Slug tier - Sauber (formerly Alfa Romeo), Haas
Again, four drivers in total. We get to take a maximum of two drivers from tier one... but must take one driver from the mid tier... and one driver from the slug tier. Similar to fantasy football, my opponent and I cannot have the same drivers on our teams.
Dollars will be awarded across multiple qualifying and race performances (ex. most Q3 appearances, $X for a pole position, $X for a points finish, even more money for a podium and even more for a P2 or P1, etc.). We also have penalties set up on if a driver encounters a solo race crash or if he should be terminated mid-season, which will be more severe than if he gets canned at the end of the season.
So if you were playing, who are your four drivers?
Gracias, amigos!
As requested, with justifications
Russell - Mainly he’s fast, if he can keep out of trouble. I’m not a fan but, when I was thinking who I would choose I remembered both Vettel and Verstappen having a reputation for being incident prone and we know how that ended.
Leclerc - Chosen for his number of pole positions, and selecting Hamilton and Russell is too risky. We know he is fast and the results are dependant on what Ferrari can do.
Gasly - Of the mid tier teams, I think Alpine will be pushing the hardest. I wanted to pick Albon or Ricciardo, but I don’t think Williams or Mini Red Bull have the resources to push into the upper mid pack.
Either Sauber Driver - Haas has not given any reason to bet on them. And both Sauber drivers have shown that they are capable of delivering results at times.
Yeah, Piastri, Norris and Albon were all on my short list and I’ll definitely be cheering for them. Thanks for the response.
I'm leaning toward:
Leclerc. Yes, for his speed + pole positions... all pending on if Ferrari does their homework.
Piastri. He came charging out of the gate last year, this year has to be better + he ne ver backed down in the wet last season.
Albon. I believe in him + also believe in James Vowles turning around Williams.
Bottas. He wants to be with the team when they transition to Audi, so maybe he'll step things up over the next two years. I had Magnussen on my team last year -- that team is straight trash. While I enjoy Guenther's interviews, that guy's gotta go.
Sad, but true.Guenther was able to keep his job years longer than he should have. Nice guy, but he need to be sacked years ago.
If this were to come to pass, would Andretti still be able to keep the Ferrari connection? If I were Gene Haas, I'd set things in motion to sell the team to Andretti, so they could hit the ground running for the 2026 season.
