Formula 1/F1/Formula One

You could just watch the last 15 laps and witness Alonso giving a master class to Sergio on how to race and feel like you watch an entire race.

Fernando is a wizard.
and driving an Aston Martin to boot....Woo hoo!!!
Fantastic podium results.
Great race to watch....
I feel so bad for Gunther and HAAS...They don't seem to get a break these days...
I have bought his book to read...

Yeah, the race start, and the Sergio-Alonso "racing line lesson" were not-to-be-missed. Fernando loves to mix it up, such as the race a couple years ago with the back and forth between him and Hamilton for a bunch of laps (I don't recall which race it was).

Guenther appears to be a funny, likable guy... but Gene Haas should've parted ways with him a couple of seasons ago. The results simply aren't there and the team isn't on a decent trajectory. Does Guenther have Polaroids of Gene with barnyard animals? Why does he get to keep his gig year after year, running at the back of the back?

Alonso looked great on Sunday. His battle with Checo was one of the best of the year. With all the Red Bull pilfering that's taken place over the past 12 months, Larry's team would be in a sweet position if they were to give Alonso a solid teammate. Can you imagine if Leclerc, Sainz, Albon or Hulk were in the second car???

It's disheartening to think we're gonna have to endure another season of Red Bull outclassing the field. It's simply not what F1 needs at this time in their popularity.

I would like to think Vegas will be a glimmer of good in a mostly lame season... but street circuits (for the most part) are lacking and the track map for Vegas leaves a lot to be desired. We'll see.

I get that you dont generally like to see total domination by one team or one guy but they all have money and resources, maybe Red Bull just works harder and Verstappen is really just that good, if so then maybe the other teams need to try harder. So do they add weight or some other change to one car becuase its doing better than the rest ? doesnt seem proper, There are plenty of great battles going on so its not like the fans arent getting a show. You want to be the best you have to beat the best fair and square.

When you put the best driver in the best car you can expect total domination. That's racing.

I actually think that this has been one of the best seasons in recent years, although that could be recency bias. It just seems that aside from watching one of the best drivers and teams smash records, but it also seems to be the best racing between the rest of the teams in quite some time. For most of the Mercedes years the midfield seemed like a procession because the engine gaps were so big.

That being said, I am hoping that Mercedes fixes their car for next year so we can get Max v. Lewis 2.0.

The rule changes for 2022 resulted in the cars being able to race much more closely. This was the intent of F1 to eliminate the "procession" and allow the cars to stir it up which they did/do. Now, if F1 would give Max and RB the trophy and tell them to sit the race out, we'd have some interesting racing to watch.

The word coming out of Vegas is that the people of Vegas are hating the race and its still a week away. Its understandable that a city street circuit badly impacts the traffic of a city and in a society as car-based as America that impact is felt more. Hopefully the race itself will be great and the positive impact can change the minds of the locals.
