Found a cool old bassist, need some help?

I will keep checking back to see if anyone has contacted Butch to see if he is indeed the person I am looking for. Anyone who reads these posts are welcome to call me 24 hours/day. I just want to find him and talk to him again. Just mention to him his two other brothers Andre and Maurice. Butch was the oldest, I was the middle, and Maurice the youngest. We were born in 1958, 1960, and 1961 respectively and lived in NYC until we were all separated in the late 1960's. It has been my dream to someday find Butch ( I have already located Maurice) and reunite us again after 40 years. Yes, it is true! We have not all been together in 40 years. And that is all I have ever wanted for most of my life. I have read what many of you are doing for him. I find it heart warming that there are so many nice people in this world willing to help another person. I only ask you to help me find him so that I can see him again. Thanks again for all of your kindness and assistance.
Sincerely,
Andre Porter

I am absolutely serious! I have been searching for him all of my life. I am heartbroken to hear he has had some hard times and I want to contact him as soon as possible. His real nae is Arthur Lee Porter Jr. He is from Queens NY, and we were separated in 1968 or 1969. I have not seen him since. Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. And my only wish is to see him again. Please... If anyone knows how I can reach him just tell me ok?
I swear that I am telling the truth and I would give anything just to be reunited again with my big brother. As kids he was my idol and hero and I never forgot him. My previous post has my phone number and email address and anyone can call me anytime day or night to give me any information to help me find Butch.
Thanks for all of your kindness and assistance in this matter.

Wow.

Actually there are a lot of places like Talkbass. On another forum I moderate for, there was a member who's wife posted under his account. He was a fire fighter, had contracted Hep C in the 80's while trying to rescue a junkie, and finally passed away while waiting for a liver transplant. His dream was to restore an old Porsche 911 that he bought as a basket case (this was a 911 BBS). Within a few days we collected over $6K in donations and a group of guys local to the widow met up with her and got the car. About 9 months later they presented her with a *totally* restored 911, just as her husband had wanted. All of the parts and labor were either donated or paid for out of the donations. The pictures of her getting the car were priceless. Not a replacement for her husband by any means, but it meant a lot. Plenty of other smaller acts, people helping out, connections being made, etc.

The digital world can be cool that way sometimes...

Wow.

Amazing stuff, folks. Amazing stuff. Subscribed. Instant notification-style.

Actually, I joined today so that I could respond to the messages I found in this website about someone trying to help and old bass player named Butch Porter. Once I saw that and I followed the link to the Band "Empress", I became a member so that I could communicate with all of you in hopes of finding my brother. By the way, I too am a Bass player (coincidentally) but not professionally, nor was I ever very good. I played in a few bands in high school and college.
I originally found these posts via Google searching Butch Porter and the word "Bass"
The results brought me to this web site and closer to finding Butch. I really pray that this is him and that I am closer to reuniting with him.
Thanks everyone!

What about setting up a Paypal account for this? I bet a lot of folks would chip a buck or a few bucks. Lets get Butch a nice bass if we can, not a budget bass. Buy something used of course - more bang for the buck.

Maybe with enough responses, we could even get him a little amp... ;)
