Found an Indonesian Squier in a Pawn Shop today...

....I was on my lunch break and just popped in. They had an awfully pretty Squier Jazz Bass on the wall. I took a pick of the Serial Number, and according to what I've found, it's an Indonesian Crafted Jazz Bass made in 2001.

I didn't get to plug it in and play it (they didn't have a bass amp or even cable handy) but they said I could bring my practice amp in (and probably my own cable too!) and try it out.

It comes with a hard case (according to the tag) and they want $250 for it, but of course all prices are negotiable.

If it does play well with no major problems, what do you folks think a fair price would be?

You could get an upgraded squier for $75 or less + a coffin hsc for about the same

Yeah is it an affinity? thats a rip if so. I could get a new affinity and hardcase for 250$, if its a standard with a hardcase, 150$ is top dollar i'd pay, for 250$ with a case i'd except a classic vibe, its a pawn shop not guitar center.

I would talk them down , if it really speaks to you and is in good shape as is the case then swing 200$, but really I dont think i could pay more then 150$.

A Standard, in "like new" condition, should not be over $150.00
A molded plastic case, maybe $50.00. In average condition, 25% less.

I'll agree with the rest: that price is way too high.

I'd say $150 for the bass, and if they don't budge on the price...keep looking.

They probably won't do $150, so say $150 and try to meet them around $180. Or try $150 for just the bass? The case could smell like puke and smoke!

Aren't the CVs and VMs just a little more than that? And aren't they regarded as a massive step forward for Squier considering how disastrous they were in the 90s-00s?

I bought an Indonesian Squier "Black and Chrome" at GC for $99 bux. Nice enough for the money, but needs ugraded pups and electronics, and the neck pocket is slightly sized different, and wont accept most replacement necks.

Basically brand-new Affinities run $99 @ pawn shops all day long here.

This is not an Affinity, it is the Squier "Standard" model. Sells for about $80 more. It is the upgraded P/J bass, not quite as nice as the VM or CV models. Nice ones should be worth $150

I actually just bought a nice MIM Fender P bass at a pawn shop last week for $250, so I would concur with the posts above. You can get a better deal.

Yeah, for 50 bucks more, you can get a brand new Vintage Modified.
