fwiw, i don't do fall away as i find it unnecessary on electrics or acoustics. basically at the core of the discussion is how to get the neck to conform to string excursion and maintaining a desired action whether a note is fretted (anywhere on the neck) or played open. fretting out on high register notes is a question of fingerboard and string plane radii interaction.
also, on acoustics, the typical Martin style neck joint contributes greatly to neck joint movement, neck roll-up, and upper bout issues over time due to the thin, flat neck block coupled with a wide but shallow upper traverse graft -the "popsicle brace". builders moving on to a more substantial neck block design with a spanish foot and upper portion of the block firmly connected directly to a tall but thin upper traverse graft of quality and offering full support of the fretboard extension, see no neck roll-up or the subsequent need to incorporate fretboard fall-away along with increased sustain, note clarity, and tone production.
