Hi friends,

Expanding my studio and looking for my first fretless bass! Curious about things I should know about a fretless P vs J style bass? Mostly for funk, country, and 70s soul/jazz.

currently looking at:

1. Vintage Fender P
2. Brand new Fender Tony franklin
3. Sandberg TT4 Jaco style bass

Having trouble deciding because I like them all! The vintage p has the best vibe, the Sandberg seems to be the most well built, and the Tony franklin is cool and budget friendly.

Go with the Tony Franklin “PJ” it sounds incredible and looks like a killer!!! Also has fantastic reviews for fit and finish…
I play fretless P’s and J’s but honestly prefer the PJ’s versatility, good luck…
