Fretless 5 Comp, Drake Custom build

Thanks everyone for the compliments and questions.

To answer the scale length and string spacing question; the scale is 33 inches and the spacing at the bridge is the .699 that Hipshot makes. It is a narrow spacing like a Carvin or Ibanez would have.

I have been very busy lately as I have had a death in the family. All is taken care of now and I still think I will be completed by the end of this week.

Here are some bad pictures of the assembly stage. I am waiting for some strings to arrive and then wired up, string up, and then set up.

At last my entry is ready to view. I have assembled wired and tested her out and can say that she is ready for the road.
This was my first build off and I had a lot of fun with it. So much that I can't wait to get into the next one. I have seen a couple of builds that are, in my opinion, the top contenders for the win of this build off but I think that all entries have been outstanding.

Thanks everyone for the great comments about my build. You all make me feel pretty good about this bass. It was fun to build but it is nice to be able to just sit back now and check out everyone else's entries. The funny thing is that back when I was in school, I never had my homework done on time if even at all.

Just a few more days until the 31st! I wish everyone good luck.

Wow, I haven't followed any of these build-off threads before... but I'm gonna start now!

Drake, while it's not exactly my style of bass guitar, I gotta say that from the photos the workmanship looks absolutely beyond reproach. Amazing work, man. The lustre of that finish is to die for.

Awesome job!

I wish Carl would call. I have said it many times... he is the biggest influence on my building style. I have never met the man but I respect him and his designs. Carl has been the pioneer of so many of the techniques in the world of custom bass building and I pretty much learned how to build basses by studying pictures of his basses. I used this shape as a tribute to his work as it is one of my favorite shapes he has used in the past.

The bass is not really the style you would see me playing on stage either, but it was built to be something out of the ordinary.
