I have quietly watched all of these competition builds as they progressed. An amazing combination of brain candy from technique and eye candy from artistry it was .

I know there needs to be a winner, but the basses thrown down by all of you are just spectacular. Its a shame that some of the builds did not meet the deadline, excellent work by those builders also.

Congratulations to all of the luthiers on outstanding entries!

For those of you who are curious, I will be posting my bass here shortly, but business kept me from getting pictures taken to post on time, and the bass is on loan to a friend doing a demo for me.

This has been great fun to watch everything come together, and the great builds completed. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did, and I hope we put enough information out there to advance others interest in the actual process of building an instrument(which was what I wanted to convey out of this). best to all, vote for your favorite. My fave is barnaclebeau's, right up my alley in design. Make it passive and it's be perfect (for me).

However, I simply could not not vote for Kev2007. The bass is wonderful, as is his spirit. Keep on keepin' on Kev!

So I invoked the "oft-whispered about but never before acted upon in LC" mod's option. I voted twice.

in that order for me. Everyone had amazing build, but the hollow bodies did it for me, especially the pull out electronics drawer in Kev's. The curvy laminated back was genius on Big B.

I had to go with barnaclebeau for making the preamp and pickup. Big B won me over on the woodwork, Simo is the one I'm most likely to play, but to design an entirely new electronics system..

They're all gorgeous, the overall quality is really impressive. All I've said for the past ten minutes is "wow ... wow ... wow". No losers here.

Choosing a winner is a little like choosing the best piece of pie from several delicious slices. Sure, this one here might be a little richer looking than the others, but the filling on that one looks amazing... Oh, and check out how flaky that crust is on that one, but ooh! check out how much taller that one is...

Point is, when it's all said and done, I want to eat them ALL!

Nope Dave, the whole contest thing wasn't really my goal, I will post pics but the bass went out on loan to a friend who is doing some test playing and a video demo, so my bad planning prevented me from getting pics done.
