I remember not too long ago - 15 years, probably less - Stanley Clarke and Jean Luc Ponty were touring a trio rounded out by Bela Fleck. I thought it was pretty good. Not sure Bela really needed frets.
I saw that show at the Britt outdoor Shakespeare theater in Jacksonville, Oregon with Darryl Anger and Mike Marshall as the opener; killer show! I brought my acoustic trio and we played before the show, after the show, and inside while waiting....
