Ok, so I'm making a stick bass that can be played upright (similar to a DB) or like a fretless BG. I'm undecided about strings (they'll either be flats or lacewound, probably lacewound) and the pup will be going into a simple volume and tone. I only have room for one pup on my bass (it still has a 34" BG scale though) and I wondered what you guys thought? I can only afford something like a wilkinson ATM, but I'll upgrade when I get the money.
So, which pup is best for me?
    Humbucker?
    Soapbar?
    Single coil?

    Thanks in advance

Well if you want a double bassy sound, i suggest a cheap piezo transducer attached at tje bridge.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Do you have to wire a piezo up? Thanks
