Fretless Freak

Anybody have any ideas on alternate materials for a good sound on fretless like graphite or anything else? Personal stories?

There's ebanol, dymondwood, acrylized woods, rockwood......

I used dymondwood for a FB on my semihollow fretless - amazing mwah. it is an effortless bass to play. tapping sounds great too.

Mine kinda sounds along the lines of Michael Manring when slapped. I'm using Conklin Snakeskin strings, which are stainless steel rounds and I don't see much wear at all.

I have a fretless Warmoth with a bloodwood fingerboard. I like it--it really doesn't seem noticably different than ebony to me in feel/sound. That's in comparion to my Warwick fretless...but the Warwick has rounds on it, and I've only ever used flats on the Warmoth (a set of those Steve Harris ones), so I haven't really tried a precise A/B comparison.
