Here's my Wishbass 30" short scale fretless. The Fantasy model; Wenge FB, zebrawood body, mahogany/purpleheart/maple neck stringers. Extensively refined and finished by me (I custom ordered it unfinished). A pretty kool axe!

My short scale fretless basses where found on ebay. Only my Fender Musicmaster I bought locally over 20 years ago and I found that one used in the music store.
Yes the fretless short scale is a difficult animal to find!!
Oh yeah, you are right. Those SXes are not in stock.
If you have any interest in a violin bass, Rondo has them available in fretless SS.
I can't think of any other fretless SS in mass production. (Also Wish, if that's your bag and if they ship to Kiwis)

Beautiful wood and finish work. That zebrawood is amazing. I've always been interested in Wish for their cool woods, but the body shapes are too "out there" for me! I guess that helps with lightness and balance.
I emailed Rondomusic, The short scale fretless SX Usra 2 models that replace the SX SJB-62, are due in 2012.

It's awesome you made a club like this. I went to GC this weekend and finally played my 1st fretless and OH MY GOD I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE the unique sound a fretless gives and they're a blast to play. When I get my vintage MIK Squier on Wednesday, I'm gonna have it de-fretted!!!

1969 Ovation Typhoon III - 30" Scale
The Typhoon III with fretless neck and trapese bridge was made one year only. With their Typhoons, Ovation set a highter neck height to compensate for the no frets. Hard to tell with my photo, but the tail end of the neck is cantilevered above the body kinda like a DB neck. Makes for very nice to access to the highlands.
The DeArmond pickups are rich throughout the tone range.
