i did a similar thing years ago with a Fender American Deluxe Precision in candy apple red with a maple neck. Had to sell it for rent. It was my only bass.
Modify your sx if you hate the tone, having to sell a Ric is hellish but when the economy gets better in 3 yrs you can replace it.

BTW, I went to practice this am and through my Ashdown that Ibanez actually sounded great. Different, but good. Even got complements on the tone. Now I need to get my Foundation V up an running because I just left the music store and a $1700 Warwick played no better than it. Go figure. Amazing how a couple of days can change outlook.

As cliched as it sounds, at least you have your health!

Seriously, as bad as things are always remember that they could always be much worse.

I had to sell my only bass (Fender P-Bass) along with one of my guitars years ago so I could feed my newborn (things were really tough at the time, me and the wife were getting by on like one meal a day at times... depressing thinking about it now).

I had only owned the bass for close to 2 years too

Of course the situation improved over time but for some reason never did get another bass... until earlier this year... of course things being the way they are, had to settle for an inexpensive one (and not the one I had my heart set on) but still happy about owning one again

Anyway, family always comes first and I'd gladly give away every piece of musical equipment I own AND my fretting hand if it meant keeping my family healthy and safe (well maybe I'd keep one finger and join a U2 cover band!).
