Here's are a couple I'm sure varies from place to place.
1. Friday night is the night to go out. Not Saturday. There is a significant drop in activy on Saturday night.
2. Restaurants open at 7pm. They are fairly empty until 9pm and then full until midnight.
3. Bands must stop playing at 0100. We have a gig tonight in Geneva. We start at 10pm and will finish our third set at 0100 on the dot.
4. You do not tip waiters for meals or drinks in Switzerland. That one takes a while to get used to.
Have a good weekend folks.

Why can't you tip waiters? Our waiters here would starve to death without their tips.

As for the tipping, it's just customary here, probably due to the high cost of restaurant food. It's almost impossible to go out for dinner for two people and spend less that $50. Chain restaurants are virtually non-existant, which is fine. Fast food only really appeals to teenagers and street people, if you can find fast food outlets.

dlloyd said:Tipping is not required here. I'll tip around 15% if the service is good in restaurants. Tipping is pretty much unheard of in bars. You might buy the barman a drink, but that's about it.
