France is a small enough nation that they may not have much regional variation, at least not the extremes we have. Isn't the entire country a little smaller than Texas? We have big differences from say, Alabama to Illinois. But not so much from Harlingen to Waxahachie.txbasschic said:For why, hon? Do the French not have their regional favorites?

Peter McFerrin said:morf is right. Considering that the French have barely all been speaking the same language for more than a few decades, it's no surprise that there's fairly huge regional variation in the country's cuisine.
Here's a legitimate question: is French cuisine as diverse as Italian? Indian? It certainly can't top Chinese, but then again, what could?
BTW, you know that joke that starts with how the French have the finest chefs and the finest ingredients and the Chinese have the finest chefs and the worst ingredients? I forget which country has the worst chefs and the finest ingredients. I do know that England has the worst chefs and the worst ingredients.![]()

The deep fried Mars bar is a West of Scotland specialty. As is deep fried pizza, and deep fried pretty much anything else. Not for nothing are we known as the sick man of Europe!txbasschik said:Canada's. 'Cause they eat poutine.![]()
