from active to passive

Ijust recently got a warmoth jazz bass set up with the emg vj pickups and i think it has regular emg jazz preamp. I think only the pickups are active and i was wondering if their was a way to make the bass passive instead of active with out needing to switch out the pickups?

There is no way you can turn active EMGs into passive pickups, since they have a built-in preamp.

yup, JMX said it best. As to 'preamp' if you have bass/treble controls then you could take them out but you'd still have an active bass because of the VJ pickups. If you only have a tone control, you have no preamp (apart from the ones on board the pickups).
