From piano to bass

Besides that, do i need to care about strings? I'm reading that many people changes them when buying a new instrument. But for a total begginer, can i get away learning the basics with whatever strings come with the bass, until my touch and ear are developed, or a bad set of strings is going to be a hindrance from the very beggining?
Most strings that come on the bass from the manufacturer will be fine.

I played bass for years. Our church band was keys driven. One Saturday night the keys player quit. The next morning I was playing keys. I had to learn fast. I could read a some music, had theory for years. Knew some chords on the piano. (For others) There is a difference from a keyboard player and a piano player. Like a lead guitar and a rhythm guitar. I said if a keys player shows up I will go back to bass. 1 week later a bass player shows up. I played keys for 5 years. I said all of that to say I really learned a lot playing keys. I am back to playing bass, playing keys made me a better bass player. But I do have to admit, playing keys was fun!
