FS: Warwick Thumb 5 Bolt-on

When I was unsure of selling mine I had a whole lot of people interested. Almost sold it more than once and then I wound up backing out because I couldn't bring myself to part with it. Now that I've decided I'll definitely let it go, I've only gotten a couple of nibbles. I know it will sell so I'm not in any hurry. I think people are waiting for insane deals cuz of rumors of these great basses being given away for next to nothing. My bass is a great bass and I refuse to give it away for some insane price. I advise you do the same.

EXACTLY! Like you, I've had a few sharks offer insanely low prices for my Warwick. The was I see it is: I certainly don't need to sell/trade it, but it's worth a shot. I've played the terd Warwicks at Guitar Center that all the kids pound on like they own it, and I know my Thumb plays and sounds better than the Warwicks that GC fetch twice my asking price for. Throw into the equation that my bass comes with the optional $175 hardshell case instead of the free flimsy gigbag a Warwick normally comes with, and I'm convinced someone will be getting one hell of a deal on a great instrument!

we should starta an I can't sell my warwick for some strange reason support group. ANd you should find my presidents day sale thread and give it bump once in while. Like, maybe we can talk about how great each others warwicks are. My has the hadshell case too. I thought I paid more than $150 - it was $175, wasn't it?

You guys might want to try looking into consignment locally or at bigger online bass shops. Shop around for who can cut you a deal and see what they think they can fetch for you after their cut. Look into trades as well.

I've tried to move a couple of MINT high end instruments recently for what I thought they were worth and unless you are very patient and get really lucky with someone who is looking for exactly what you're offering, you're basically looking at whatever the going rate is on the bay, bassgear, here, etc. Be prepared to take a hit monetarily. Unfortunately it's alot like buying a new car. As soon as you drive it off the lot it depreciates a year regardless of mileage and condition and Warwicks are kind of easy to come by as of recently... Just food for thought. Good luck, I feel your pain! :hmm:

Interesting thing with me an my warwick is I already sold it 2X - and then I copped out because I decided I couldn't part with it. Now that I'm ready... oh well. Truth is also that if I save enough money for my next bongo before anyone buys the warwick I'll be releived. The bass is super hard for me to part with, even though I don't play it anymore. I got used to MusicMans and now nothing else will cut it.

Hey Joe, I feel your pain, I'll definately miss my thumb when she's gone, but I've fallen head-over-heels in love with a Stingray 5 in Honeyburst with white pickguard. Since I'm not the kind of man to cheat on my ladies, I have to get rid of 1 before I get to slap the new one around. :D

The Thumb: Sounds great, plays great, looks great! No issues whatsoever. Ovangkol body & neck w/Wenge fretboard. I religiously wax it every 2 weeks, and don't gig with it in fear of scratching it or getting it stolen, so it stays at home. I received it as a gift 2 years ago, though it was barely used when I took posession, so I'm guessing I'm the 2nd owner. Comes with original hardshell case (not a gigbag), original truss-rod tool, and can of Warwick wax (1/2 used up) and black schaller straplocks. I'm asking $1200 obo. I had originally posted an ad in the Wanted section for a straight-up trade. I'm gassing for a fretted SR5 in Honeyburst w/white pickguard & pickup. I'd like a maple fretboard, but I'd probably settle for a rosewood if I have to. I don't care much for matching/painted headstocks. Even though I'm lusting for a SR5, I may consider other 5 stringers.
