Hello friends,

I'm a recent owner of an FGN bass and would love to talk with other owners (and possible future owners) of these basses.

FGN Information:

FGN (known as Fujigen) is a guitar manufacture based in Japan that has sold instruments under their branding "FGN" and as an OEM for various companies in the past (Fender being the most popular). Most of the sellers for these instruments are based in Japan as the market of FGN is somewhat limited in the West.

I found a few basses that don't fit these three models where it's a Pbass shape with humbuckers, etc. Maybe someone knows their full model line?

If you are buying from Reverb vs eBay the total cost was very close but I believe eBay was slightly more expensive buying from Japan. I personally purchased from G-Club and they ship the bass Fed-Ex International Priority, Japan to California was less than five days total.

To start kick things off I recently received an FGN Might Jazz Dark Evolution five string, I wanted something of a modern spin on the classic Jazz bass but didn't want another Fender. It's a great mix of small changes, quality and features not commonly found with other manufactures. I'm hoping I can sell some gear to pick up the four string version but some of the other FGN basses are also on my radar.

It's a club in the sense of we're talking about FGN basses and other basses made by FGN as an OEM. Hope that helps!

I recently got a CoolZ p bass that is a fujigen OEM build. I'm exceptionally happy with it. I also have two bases with 80s e series fender Japan necks and a medium scale fujigen squier p bass. I love fgn necks.
I'm diehard fgn.

Works for me, I really love to play my Fujigen Mighty Bass. Best neck that I have played so far.

I don't know much about these — info is really hard to come by. I read somewhere, years ago, that production of the cool Zs, was shifted, at a later stage, to another factory. But, initially, they were Fujigen's and they reportedly didn't differ much at all from their richer cousins, except for the grade, or variety, of the wood. The quality of workmanship is said to be first rate. This is my experience, scant though it is.

Here's [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], from somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, maybe — note the CZ in the model number: CZ-BJ4/R.

Mighty Power just came in from Kurosawa. Wish these were more easily available , but plenty happy with $900 shipped. The neck quality compared to my (more expensive) MIM deluxe precision special is off the charts.

Okay, yes, I am in. My Mighty Jazz Dark Evolution. The bubble on the pickguard is the protective plastic, still not removed.

I removed the plastic on the pickguard and my worry was the plastic being polished, leaving it easy for fingerprints and scratches to show up. Luckily it's a matte finish pickguard, but I'm thinking about taking the pickguard template and building a new one or even something with carbon fiber to match the DE bass.

I'd been looking at this one on Kurosawa's Reverb page (I assume that's the one you got, since it's gone now). It had been the focus of my recent G.A.S. Thank you for removing that temptation.
They do have a sunburst one still, though....

Speaking of FGN, I was really tempted to buy one of their telecaster-style guitars. I have an older MIM Strat and the neck is just so meh. After the FGN neck, I'm seriously impressed.

Will do, I got the idea from looking at the Dingwall basses and how they have the carbon pickguard. I believe most of the custom pickguard companies will cut from a carbon-fiber look, but I figured it might be the same price if I try a DIY.

I did reach out to the "official dealers" and the FGN USA contacts before ordering from Kurosawa, everyone gave me the same answer that the Mighty Power was discontinued and wouldn't be available stateside.
