I used to have a US Stingray and I have a couple of US Fenders. The quality of this is somewhere between an American Professional and an EBMM, imho. Glad I took a chance on a new (old) brand!

I just got me a new FGN neo classic 5 about a month ago and I was looking to perform a few upgrades. Does anybody have info about it? It seems like it’s going to be a pickle since I couldn’t find info about the pickups or the electronics it has inside. I love the way it feels and plays and I absolutely love it’s secret feature (the series/parallel) but I want to have a few mods done.

NICE! So I upgraded my Neo Classic 'Geddyzilla' with Brantley Rewind pickups... I gotta say I didn't notice much of a difference tonally. The stock pickups seem to be quite solid. I believe they're in house. I was able to maintain the push pull series/parallel with the new pickups as well. My Mighty Jazz JMJ also has this feature. Love these FGNs!

Thank you twice first for the comment and second for getting me familiar With the brand. I got it right after I re-watched your reviews for a few of them. Interesting. I wonder if you’re going to feel the same regarding the five strings. Meaning it sounds good but that extra tuner really makes the head stuck take a deep dive. But yeah, it sounds great. I wanted to try the fralins or the Bartolini bi-axis and perhaps a new preamp that keeps that series parallel feature cause the low end really sounds like something coming out of super 5 MTD crazy low. But Even without anything else, it’s a keeper. I have a set of hipshot ultralights on the way which I hope will help the dive.
Hope that one day you’ll review one of the givers by them. Interested to see what you’ll think of them relatively to the American fenders or even as an upgrading platform.

Yeah, the tuners on my Neo Classic are far from lightweight. The Mighty Jazz DE 5'er is somewhat similar but doesn't dive too bad. Ultralites would be a SOLID upgrade.
Your reviews are the reason I bought a slightly used 70s style neo classic. Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar in Seattle (excellent service btw. Really well packed and great communication the whole time). I’m really enjoying it.

I usually mod at least something, but I'm not touching any functional parts on my Mighty Jazz. It is flawless. I am going to paint up the pickguard and replace the knobs, though... might get cheeky and add a kill switch.

Just to tag along, I also haven't noticed terrible neck dive with the DE 5 but I'm using a grippy leather strap that might hold better than a nylon strap.
I have noticed that you could save weight by swapping out small items on the DE. The knobs I believe are full metal, and wonder if the bridge would save some weight moving to another brand.
I'm in the same boat. I guess 'dive' isn't really an issue, but I (pretty slim dude and I wear my bass high) feel it definitely tug a bit on the neck side. However I can let go of the neck without fear that it will go downwards, but I think a crappier and less supportive strap may yield a different result (haven't tried it yet though, guessing based on feel). I haven't taken off one of the tuning machines and weighed it, but I know you can save about a 1/4 LB off the headstock on a Sire 4 string by swapping in the hipshot ultralite (imports).
The Mighty J is a hoss in size, but not overly heavy. That said, I am going with a 2.5" leather strap for it and it sits better. It's really weird. It has a really wide fretboard for what I'm used to (4 strings lol), but my not large hands play very comfortably.
Lobster, I just got the Harley PB-50. Putting all gold hw on it and a Seymour QP. Only telling you this because it's the second Harley I got in a week that had zero issues... and they were intonated out of the box? Wth?! Different thread, I know.

I also had recently put two offers on a FGN Mighty Power (that Candy Apple Green... ugh), but they were both declined, which is a good thing. I've bought four basses in less than two months. I reeeeally want it tho.
I do have a Xentric Jack-o-lantern knob coming that I might put on the tone/series pot. :O
I should post my Sterling Ray35 in the appropriate thread, but it's not quite done yet (need to figure out how to wire the LED strip). It is bat**** and a nasty bass. Both these basses will be used in a doom metal project. Okay, I'll post a thumbnail...
