In answer to your question, I wish I knew. I've not had the privilege of exploring these twists and turns. My experience tells me though, that whatever it does, that there knob will be pretty special. Be confident:) Enjoy!

I'll hopefully get the bass next week and will post thoughts.

I might even email FGN to ask about the layout. It's an older discontinued model but maybe the company still have records.

Please do — would be a buzz to get a vicarious groove.

It's always a challenge to get insights from the source. I've had numerous well-intentioned stabs, over the years. My Japanese is desperately lacking, to the point of complete abandonment. No harm in trying.

I'm sure if you hit the right note, they'd gladly fill in the gaps. It's always an adventure, going hunting for insight. You always learn something. I don't mind the mystery, just quietly. You learn to live with it, and gain some mastery, regardless, once you're carrying the cat by the tail:)

Actually I found some info.

Controls are as stated - volume, blend, active bass\mid\treble EQ. Volume is push\pull active\passive mode. The rear black knob is master tone (passive).
The 2 switches are 1. Either humbucker\SC for neck and 2. Bridge side coil\neck side coil for bridge pickup.

That's lotsa tones!

Then there's the Circle Fret System and an assym neck.

Can't wait to check it out.

It took forever to find out, from the source, that their CFS necks can be serviced in a standard shop — frets can be replaced by anyone, regardless, no special tools required. That was a relief, I was in deep, and fretting, at that point:)

Compound radius necks are common now. Same deal — they have an excellent handle on the process, being exponents — trendsetters — past masters of the automation process studiously mated to good old craftsmanship. Mastery of wood is another factor that sets them apart. The wood's good. If only info. wasn't so hard to come by.

As a consolation, the instruments — each and every one of them — in my experience, speak for themselves:cool:

My introduction to the shop came through something along these lines, an earlier iteration. Electrickery. Not a knob in sight. I haven't looked back:)​

Ya know, I don't understand why FGN gets so little chatter. Great, very well made instruments, and amazing bargains for what you get. But you almost never hear anything about them. People rave about the old Fender Japan days, or some Ibanez models, oblivious as to who actually made them.
I don't understand why they aren't more popular.
I guess that makes us cool, or something.

So I played my new FGN bass for the first time last night at a gig. My signal chain is EBS Multicomp - EBS Billy Sheehan Deluxe Drive - Aguilar Tone Hammer - Shift Line Cabzone.

Wow! I ran the pickups passive, both in single coil mode. Sounds incredible - definitely J bass vibes but with lots of midrange balls. Punchy, gritty and perfect for me. And the thing sets up so well it plays itself!

Hi. Hope I am in the appropriate thread to get some opinions about this CoolZ ZJB-1R Jazz Bass I bought as a second hander.
It feels fantastic to play. It has been modded. The pickups are overwound replacements that are wired serially, with just a vol pot for both pickups and a tone pot . Sound great. The output jack has been moved to the rear side. The bridge has been modified to accept string throughs. A thumb rest has been added. I've long wanted to own a Japanese Fender copy of some kind. Far as I can tell, disregarding any age related cosmetic stuff, the build quality is top notch. I feel i got a great bass for what I paid. Perhaps someone could indicate what they think is a reasonable market price for this bass. Not with a view to me selling it. Just to confirm to me that I really think the seller sold me a great bass for a modest price.

They may not have the name "Mighty Jazz" in the posting, though. Just look for FGN bass guitars. Most of them will be Mighty Jazz, and a few Mighty Power.

I'll need to check again but I was looking at sellers from Japan instead of the EU regions. Before the seller I bought my FGN had a good selection of basses (mixed Mightly Jazz and others). Seems like now there are only the Jazz models available.
