+1 but that's probably because the amp EQ is slightly different on their clips.

As others have said, where the Bass Drive shines is in the mix, maybe not soo much alone. And that's what I need, a cutting overdrive, finally. That's why I just bought myself one (along with the new EHX Electric Mistress yummmy....)

I think it was my Lakland j-bass straight into a crappy Zoom digital 4-track, so no EQ other than the pedal itself. Who knows though, I don't really make an effort to stay consistent when it comes to such things.

Loma Linda is weird, but at least I'm the loudest person in my neighbourhood now. I prefer it that way honestly.

Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders (both pickups full bore) into an Ampeg V4BH tube head through two twelves. SM-57 to an outboard soundcard.

On another note, the Bassdrive probably has the best clarity of any dirtbox I've tried. Not many of them can handle an E7#9 like in the last sample I did as well as the Bassdrive.

Got the bassdrive in the mail today and damn it sounds amazing. I've been plugging my bass to that and then to straight to the PA and I don't want an amp anymore! It just sounds ridiculous.

My PA is transparent, aka it just makes things loud without coloring it.
Here are my settings:
Volume- 9 oclock
Tone - 7 oclock
Overdrive-7 oclock
Boost- 9 oclock

Switches are set to Vintage and Mosfet. With the boost on it sure as heck sounds like a B-15. I'll try and post some recordings tonight. Mind you I'm playing with a P-bass strung with La Bella flats.

The first and fifth clips are done pickstyle, and I consider myself a fairly aggressive player.

I continue to be astonished by the number of members who love the BassDrive. I had one a long time ago and sold it. I bought one again about a year ago hoping I would finally get the bug and nothing. It has been sitting in a box on my shelf for months now. I find it rather boring and lifeless. Ok for blues and classic rock. Not good for much else.

I happen to think Fulltone effects in general sound sterile, so I agree with you, and I've owned and sold two Bass Drives before trying the newer Bass Drive Mosfet, and for some reason it doesn't seem as sterile as I remember my previous Bass Drives being. Might be worth a shot if you haven't tried the newest version. It's still pretty classic rock oriented though.

And I would really appreciate if you could put up some soundclips of the Ezekiel 25:17, I've heard good things about it.

that ezekiel pedal looks amazing, but i think i'm gonna go for the fulltone.. also, nice clips, assboglin. cool tone. i think it'll be the distortion i'll be using.

I never really like Fulltone stuffs for guitars, but thanks to many good comments about BassDrive here I want to build one (just got the schematic & PCB layout yesterday, seems simple to build).

I spent last weekend recording bass tracks for my band's demo and the Bassdrive delivered. Sounded full and organic. I had been getting GAS for a fuzz box, but after dialing in some great tones with this thing, I realized it's got enough versatility to make a dedicated fuzz unnecessary for my uses.

Quick question:

I've been using the original Bass-Drive for at leats 6-7 years now. It's a great OD with a lot of flexibility, but sometimes I get tired of its' mid-range emphasis.

Does the new version 2 with the "flat mids" setting sound like the functions' name implies? Would I be able to get the same tone as my old Bass-Drive along with a less mid-colored version? Or is the new peadl a whole different animal?

Yes. I almost always use mine in this mode, when I want the typical TS9 mid-bump I use my Hematoma.

I never used an older version so I can't compare with that.
