Funk 102

Orgone
Lettuce (check out the album Crush)
Vulfpeck
Snarky Puppy
Antibalas

On that list Lettuce is the closest thing to Funk in my opinion. I LOVE Snarky Puppy but Funk? Nah...... :)

Antibalas is cool and I've been listening to a lot of stuff like that recently from various artists. Vulfpeck can be funky but is not a Funk act. Orgone can also be funky but in my opinion are more Soul influenced. I like each of those groups though...

Fair enough, I don't think I can argue with any of those points. Bootsy tho... :smug:

Goes to show how subjective the definition of funk is :) . What 2 or 3 band for you best exemplify 'funk' ? (@Hari Seldon and @ebozzz)

It's definitely subjective and quite often the lines are blurred. In my post that you quoted I mentioned Snarky Puppy. I still feel the same way about them. Love the group but they lean more toward Fusion in my opinion.

I posted the Kid Creole video just recently. That particular track is funky to me but are they a Funk act? I don't believe so.

Parliament and Funkadelic definitely qualify for me. They have always been about the Funk. Cameo is another group. Mandrill also fits my criteria. What are your three?
