Fusion 550 mute switch not functioning

I know this sounds dumb, but was the plug all the way in the jack? I had that happen to me with my 550 once and the mute would not work.

Other than that I haven't had any problems so far!

Dude, are you using the factory footswitch?
If not, (why??!!) most after-market switches like BOSS and Behringer have configuration switches for polarity and for latched or unlatched.
Tell us exactly what switch(es) you are using, and any switch settings.
You should always and only use properly-fitting drivers.
The term would be "stripped" rather than threaded. You actually want threaded screws!

Its the factory foot switch, it says GK fusion 550 (or whatever) on it. Oh and thanks for the terminology, dont exactly use a screwdriver every day (or month). the jack is in fully. Strangely enough, when I plug the 1/4" in half way, the light comes on for the mute switch, but then it starts to work as the channel switch.

Could it be that you are using a regular TS (tip/sleeve, like a guitar cable with just 2 connectors) cable with the switch and not the TRS (tip/ring/sleeve which has 3 contacts)?

Works perfect now, and now I have an extra 1/4" cable! OH BOY. I need to get a coat rack to hang my cables or something.... Doing the basement studio thing and I haven't even started getting all the xlrs or the coilsnake I need. Off topic, but think its fair to tell band members to get their own bloody mics and cables for their instruments? I'm going to get enough mics to record my drumkit and my bass amp (IE 3), but I really

I found after repairing /replacing cables and mikes the others treated them with MUCH more respect after they had to buy their own. Why pay their bills for them? Just my opinion
