I am sure you are all eagerly waiting for your Future Impact. I gave to Gabor Wednesday evening most of the devices for packing and shipping. He started packing, but he got a bad flu which turned to an eye inflammation, so today he spent most of the day in hospital and cannot read or write, therefore he called me and asked me to let you know that. He is getting better now, he says all devices are packed and he wants to send out tomorrow, but I am not sure if he can arrange this with TNT, maybe it will be Monday. I know some of you expected to get it before Christmas, I am sorry if this will not work (maybe within Europe it will work yet), but let me point out that we never promised that we will be able to ship it before Christmas.

Andras Szalay

Andras,

You guys have done such a great job, that there is absolutely no need for you to apologize for anything, my friend. Gabor needs to take care of himself and get some rest. Besides, I don't want any of his germs on my FI...:D

Seriously though, his health is way more important than us getting the FI before Christmas(heck, I'm playing my last gig of the year in about an hour and a half!). Just tell Gabor to follow kulit17's advice to relax and take it easy...

Here's a semi random question, I know the FI can be controlled by a keyboard, but what about an EWI (USB in particular)? I know the trick to use the EWI without a computer so I imagine it would be possible?

I would 98.5% of the time use the FI for bass any way but just a crazy idea I had

That's a great idea!

I saw Nathan East on Saturday and Norihito Sumitomo was in the band playing keys and EWI and saxophone as well.

Seriously talented chap! He helped develop the EWI for Akai Professional and is well-known for composing the music and theme songs for the TV series Shikabane Hime and music for the video game "Gran Turismo 5". He's scored films such as "Thermae Romae", "Asura", "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" and "Majin Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Kai".

I will need to see if I can find any clips of that performance! Thanks for letting me know!

I also thought about that, we are already working on it. Of course, you can drive the FI from a EWI. I developed the EWI4000s and the EWI-USB models, I have several samples of both. Unfortunately I never took the time to learn playing it on a level that I would enjoy myself. I gave recently one EWI-USB to Lippi (Gabor Lippenyi) who designed many of the Future Impact sounds. He is a very good saxophone player, and he is interested to learn the EWI. He started right now using it with the FI, and he says it works excellent. He will post some demos soon.

That is fantastic to hear! Thank you for the response! I also play saxophone and bought an EWI USB a while back, so this will be fun to try once I purchase a FI. I plan on buying one from the 2nd batch very very soon. I can't wait I see the demos!

stupid question, probably covered in the thread somewhere, but: What's the cheapest way for me to get my computer (let's say a desktop computer with Windows 10) to connect with the FI? I have USB connections galore, but no MIDI. Thanks.

From what I hear, we're hoping the M-Audio Uno will work, but I'd like to know as well.
@Andras Szalay posted a PDF a week or so ago on updating the FI. Here is what it said:

"
MIDI Interfaces
While most MIDI interfaces are well implemented and can transfer large sysex
packages like the one that the FI software upgrade, some manufacturers do not test
their devices carefully enough, and data loss happens in a large package. While such
a MIDI interface can be useable for the FI Editor or for other purposes, it cannot be
used for the software upgrading. Unfortunately we cannot tell in advance about any
MIDI Interface whether it will work in this application or not, but we tested some
devices and share this information with you. If your MIDI interface is not in this list,
you just have to try it. We appreciate if you share your experience with us and we
can expand this list further. Do not worry, even if it will make errors it will not
damage your FI in any way; after an upgrading error the FI will remain useable just as
it was before.

MIDI Interfaces:
Panda-Audio midiBeam works perfectly
Steinberg UR22 works perfectly
Roland UM-ONE MK2 works perfectly
RME Fireface UC works perfectly
M-Audio Fasttrack-Pro works perfectly
Edirol UM-1S works in 90%, sometimes errors but useable
Akai EIE-PRO not useable
Miditech Midilink-mini no sysex implementation at all, not useable"

Thanks for that, I completely forgot I bookmarked that post to read it later closer to purchase time.
