Ugh!!! So I'm trying to think of a non-editor solution until they fix this. I think if I'm mostly sending CC messages to my switchers and program changes to my Mobius it shouldn't matter if the FI reacts to any of those unless the switcher puts it into the signal path.

It was a huge pain to edit the patches one by one, but I did it. I think your solution might be passable though.

I have owned both, though not at the same time. Here is a quick tale of the tape:

So it looks like it'll be more complicated than that. I'll have to reassign the channel for the Mobius (easy) and build program channels on the switchers for every combination of pedals I'd want to use (annoying, but there's only about a dozen).

So just FYI: if you know any programming there might be an easy way to edit all of the FI patches (as long as you are willing to use the editor). Basically, you can download all the patches. Then write some script to go in and change the MIDI channel on all the files (they can be opened as text files, so this is easy). Then load all the files. Probably not that hard to write a script in PERL or something, would make this a 15-20 minute process. But it still requires use of the editor to upload the files to your FI.

I'm an artist for a living. That's above my pay grade. Keeping fingers crossed for a firmware update, but as of right now the FI is seriously un-chill towards people with more complex midi systems.

Okay, so the brute force way of doing it is opening those 99 files in a text editor, finding the MIDI line, editing it to say 6 (or whatever your choice of channel). A hassle, but still tens of minutes at most.

You can try that with another texteditor. I use Notepad++ - it allows multiple files to be opened simultaneously and it has option to replace a specific text in ALL opened files. Drag and drop all 99 files in it, replace text and press CTRL+SHIFT+S to save them all in one step . Assuming all files have the same MIDI line, you're done in a few seconds.

Hi, Andras. I successfully updated the firmware on Windows 7 using an M-Audio Midisport Uno and things are working really great! Thank you! My device was from the second batch.

FYI, I updated my firmware yesterday via OSX and a Focusrite Safire Pro 24. The Mac software didn't ever say it completed the upgrade, so after a while I just cycled the power on the unit. Once it booted up, the display said 1.01, so I assume it was successful. Has been running fine since.

I'm having a problem updating to the latest firmware. I'm using 64 bit Windows 8.1 and latest editor, soundcard is Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. The error I'm getting is: FI not present or a communication error has occurred.
Anybody had luck with that soundcard?

I wrote a description with photos about that. We will put it out on the web page, but here it is for you right now:

Some customers complained that the potentiometers of the Future Impact (first 100 and part of the second 100) move too easily. This can be improved with o-rings that keep the potentiometers tight. For optimal performance you should use two o-rings, one thicker and one thinner. They can be ordered at Invalid Link Removed under the following article numbers:

The thin one: FIX-OR-5.8 (1.9mm thick)
The thick one: FIX-OR-6 (2.6mm thick)
The manufacturer of the O-rings is FIX&FASTEN.

For smooth movement of the potentiometer it is advisable to use some talcum powder too.

Here are some photos how to do the modification:

  1. Push a very thin screwdriver underneath the potentiometer. Beware not to scratch the foil.
  2. Push a thin, hard piece of plastic underneath the screwdriver, to save the foil. Start to push down the screwdriver, while pushing the knob by hand from the other side. Lift up the knob.
  3. Take one of each of the two o-rings, and cover them with a thin layer of talcum powder.
  4. Put the two rings on the potentiometer axis, the thicker one first, and then the thin one on the top.
  5. Wipe off the rest of the powder, and push back the knob.
Do that for all three potentiometers.

Did this yesterday - worked a treat, I used 2 each of the thick o-rings so the knobs are pretty tight but they don't get used too much onstage.

I've had issues with MIDI interfaces also (on a Mac btw). I tried an iConnect MIDI CM101 first - with that, the FI connected and the on-screen keyboard worked, but I couldn't upload patches. I'm now going through my Focusrite Saffire Pro40. I can change patches, but the on screen keyboard does not function correctly (note-off seems to be ignored). I haven't dared to try the firmware upgrade.

Is there a list of MIDI interfaces known to work 100%? (...I always assumed MIDI was a plug-and-play standard, so I'm puzzled by these idiosyncrasies ...)

I'm really starting to get my head around this pedal and am really enjoying creating sounds. However today I had one of the lights on the bank stop working it is the horizontal line in the middle. this happened while I was editing on the computer. Anybody else come across this? Here is a pic for reference. It is supposed to say bank 9. 1459136489000.jpg

Mine "should" arrive tomorrow! I'll be comparing it to my Octavius squeezer, plus I've got an EHX hog1, half a dozen filters and fuzzes. So far my favorite bass synth is a ZVex sonar into a Subdecay Prometheus dlx, all compressed. Has more snarl than even the OS. I could build a gnarly all synth board lol. Too bad one drunk and a spilled beer could cost me like 3 grand...
