The missing detail is what is the right size O-ring?
I ordered from TME (Invalid Link Removed) two different rubber O-rings. When we tried with Lippi together, we had the thinner one in hand, and three of them (for each) was needed to make the potentiometer tight. However, I had the feeling that it was too tight. Later I experimented with the other O-ring as well, which is thicker, and on two or three devices what I tested the combination of one thick underneath and one thinner on top was ideal. Since the thickness of the metal top has a few tenth of a millimeter tolerance, it is not sure which combination is ideal on one or the other box, but if you find the proper combination, this solution works very well.
The thin one: FIX-OR-5.8 (1.9mm thick)
The thick one: FIX-OR-6 (2.6mm thick)
The manufacturer of the O-rings is FIX&FASTEN.

Used a distortion patch on my FI for an impromptu jam of Sabotage at the end of band practise tonight and it sounded amazing! Never thought it would be such a good distortion pedal but it was well gnarly! :D

I did this just the other night too. I could almost do a gig with just this pedal and my Xero Dlx as it covers almost everything I need.

Envelope, distortion, octave, reverb and obviously synth.

I rocked up with just the FI and used the distortion and octave on it. Very much enjoy this pedal.

Hi - just ordered my O-Rings from here: Invalid Link Removed as I am UK based.

Any chance you can clarify how to add these to the knobs/post please? I'm assuming you can pull the knobs off the shaft and insert the right combination of O-rings inside the knob/on the pot shaft to tighten things up a bit? Or do we have to take the pot to pieces?

Loving this pedal so much but tightening up the knob movement would be good.

On my Lenovo Ideapad Windows 7 64-bit machine, I can see only about 3/4 of the Future Impact editor screen. I have tried changing the PC screen settings to no avail.

Any advice on how I can fix this so I can use the Future Impact Editor program?

"Using the Win++ and Win+- keys should work fine for you if you do not care about the rest of the applications while you are scaling this one up. The Windows 7 Magnifier tool can be set to full screen zoom, with almost any zoom factor, and it does not disable any interactions or animations....."

Thanks so much. The thing that did the trick was to change the display settings to a smaller display level of magnification (125% in my case) via a utility supplied by the computer manufacturer. I will use the Resize application to make the window a bit bigger to use this program. I am looking forward to downloading the firmware fix, as I have terrible prelling on my unit!

Very excited to experiment with programming this unit and hope we will have an iOS application for the Future Impact in the future.

I just wonder, is your device from the first series or the second? I recognized prelling at about the 25th device in the second series, and since then it is tested with extra care. Before that the wheel was classified just by a GO/NO GO test, I did not expect quality problem here. Now I changed the hardware self-test program that is used by the factory, and changed the testing instructions. I would like to know your experience after the software upgrade.

I wrote a description with photos about that. We will put it out on the web page, but here it is for you right now:

Some customers complained that the potentiometers of the Future Impact (first 100 and part of the second 100) move too easily. This can be improved with o-rings that keep the potentiometers tight. For optimal performance you should use two o-rings, one thicker and one thinner. They can be ordered at Invalid Link Removed under the following article numbers:

The thin one: FIX-OR-5.8 (1.9mm thick)
The thick one: FIX-OR-6 (2.6mm thick)
The manufacturer of the O-rings is FIX&FASTEN.

For smooth movement of the potentiometer it is advisable to use some talcum powder too.

Here are some photos how to do the modification:

  1. Push a very thin screwdriver underneath the potentiometer. Beware not to scratch the foil.
  2. Push a thin, hard piece of plastic underneath the screwdriver, to save the foil. Start to push down the screwdriver, while pushing the knob by hand from the other side. Lift up the knob.
  3. Take one of each of the two o-rings, and cover them with a thin layer of talcum powder.
  4. Put the two rings on the potentiometer axis, the thicker one first, and then the thin one on the top.
  5. Wipe off the rest of the powder, and push back the knob.
Do that for all three potentiometers.

So, how do I change the channel the FI operates on? I need to know what channel to use to transmit program changes but it doesn't appear to be on any manual.

You have to do that in the editor. I can't remember if the newest firmware gives the global MIDI channel option or if it is still by patch.

You shouldn't need to change transmit channel of any device to send to the FI, all the the patches (0-99) default to OMNI, listen on any channel. (There were two patches that only responded to a single channel, but the patches supplied with the latest firmware 1.01 fixed that. The two channels were 46 and 54 and they were set to channel 2, so you may find you need to set your channel to 2 if you haven't updated the patches yet.)

I'm pretty sure that firmware 1.01 did not change the midi channel setting to 'global' rather than 'per-preset', based on conversations here (it was called a future enhancement close to the same time that the 1.01 update went out). I haven't experimented though (simple midi setup here) so I may be proven wrong.

Yes, Omni will work out of the box but if part of a larger MIDI setup there are a lot of reasons why you would want to change that, and I'm sure that's why he asked.
