So I received my FI and so far i'm loving it. Would love to hear some patches you guys have made and for what you use them for. Have I heard correctly there is a chorus sound in there somewhere? Maybe I read that wrong.

Also, does anyone know how to change banks on the fly without having to bend over during a show and press the button? Say if I wanted to jump from Bank 0 Preset 1 to Bank 5 Preset 2. I hope that makes sense.

Congrats on purchasing the pedal! As you have experienced, it is an amazing and very powerful synth tool. Take your time with it. There is a lot you can do with it.

There is no way to change banks instantaneously on the fly with the pedal. You can press and hold down the program button with your foot and it will cycle through the patches very fast. Press program once and hold for quick patch search forward. Double tap program and hold for quick patch search backwards.

The only simple way to do this with your foot is with a midi pedal that sends program changes. There are a few other work arounds with tablets and such, but that requires more programming and equipment.

I forget what the different modes are called, but there is one mode that allows you to scroll through all the presets, including crossing banks. Also, as maisbass said, if you hold onto the button you can scroll quickly (rather than a button press for each preset), and if you double tap and hold you can scroll quickly backwards. But if you're jumping between something in the first bank and something in bank 5 then MIDI is the way to go.

I don't think there is a MIDI command that corresponds to the banks. Basically each of the 99 programs is directly accessed by one of the PC commands. So if you want Bank 0, Program 5, that's PC 5. Bank 5, Program 6, that's PC 56 (I think, I don't remember if the FI programs are zero-indexed or not). The cheapest MIDI controllers (like a MIDI Mouse or something) will probably just scroll through PC, not really much different than using the footswitches already on the pedal. Finding a controller that jumps through PC by 10 to sort of fake a bank change you would need something that is a little more programmable.

To change the mode you have to go into the menu mode on startup. I forget how to do that but it's in the manual.

For the most flexible and powerful MIDI, I would recommend getting an app on your phone or tablet, and then a physical USB-MIDI interface or a wireless one like the Zivix PUC+. For apps, MIDI Commander on Android is free but pretty limited. On iOS I love MIDI Designer (full disclosure, I'm a beta tester for them), but it does cost some money.

There's a basic multi FX slot you can leverage for general effects such as chorus, delay, eq, etc. Chorus would be accomplished with a short delay with modulation. There's already some Chorus patches shared you can simply load to your FI. Check the Google Drive we're all using to share patches. I will say that it's not a super great chorus sound like you'd get from a dedicated chorus box. But it's in there.

I saw this, however I don't currently have any way of connecting my FI to my MacBook and I think for now the Editor and MIDI stuff is a little bit beyond me right now. I'd love to learn more about it, however it just confuses way to much. I remember in one of the old Deep Impact threads on here there was an Excel Spreadsheet that had shared setting on. It outlined what pre-set was used then each of the parameters and what setting were used on each. It might be a slightly dated idea but it might seem a little simpler to people like me haha!

You're missing out on ALL of the real fun if you don't get a USB-MIDI doodad and preview our shared presets. The user presets are wayyyyy better than the built-in presets IMO, some really great, quality sounds await you... via the presets.

To add to what the other two amazing gentlemen have said, the presets aren't that great and we've even gone as far as mod those presets for better versions. You'd be best off trying out all 99 and making note of which you like, then tweaking - until you get a USB-MIDI device (Roland UM-ONE is cheap and easy) to load the real winners on there.

Agreed. You are really limiting your experience by only using the factory presets. In fact I do not use any factory presets at all. Most of our user presets are much better. I'm no midi expert, and there really isn't much of a learning curve to it. You spent a lot of bread on the pedal. Take the time out and learn the potential of what it can do. Plus you have the luxury of people here on this forum that can assist with troubleshooting.

Sounds like i need to explore the midi to USB side of things, I'm just completely lost with it - is there a basic guide to this at all?

If you use the editor, you will see the settings. The knobs do not always directly correlate to settings in the editor, so having a list of tweaked settings for each patch would not be helpful, especially since you are not using the editor. There is no reason to take all that time writing the settings down for each patch when you can plainly see the settings in the editor.

Midi setup is explained in the main user manual as well as throughout this thread.

Also, is there a way of saving a preset more than once that has Been edited in a different way - for example if I edited preset 01 but also had another version of it I liked and wanted to save both, could that be done?
