I was going to answer him with this info before but then I assumed what he meant is he needed to update the firmware in order to even have the global MIDI option.

Does anyone think that the Note on & Note off Level Parameters would be more useful if they weren't Global?

I have to be honest, I never find those parameters to do much for me. Same with the Deep Impact. So I've always left them on default. But I don't see why a per-patch setting would be useful vs a global one, it seems more like a general setup parameter like the input level.

Someone show me a video where they're editing those params and they're doing something audible and obvious. Educate me.

I updated my OS on my mac to 10.12 now my um one mk2 midi interface doesnt work..... bummed. I also lost all my custom patches the day before that when my old computer broke. Anyone have an idea of what interface I should get now that will work with the newest mac os

Well, I've been keeping an eye on the display for my Future Impact and it looks like it finally went south. The right digit completely fades of and on now, and more off than on. The photo is as bright as the right digit got all night... and it's actually supposed to be a 5 in this one.

Soundwise, it absolutely KILLED at the gig though. WICKED synth sounds from my bass, and the keyboard player ran a MIDI signal to it to cue the patch changes. Awesome! So much so, that I'm tempted to put together a small MIDI board just for that band... wouldn't have to touch my board the whole night!

I use the Roland UM-3G (got it for $20 at a MusicGoRound!) and though I have not updated my OS to 10.12 yet, I just checked the Roland website and there are drivers for the UM-3G on 10.12.

I have always fancied a sustain pedal for my bass. Can I just set up a midi sustain pedal and use that into my FI? I have just bought a Sonuus Voluum which I hope to be using as a Midi controller. I was going for opening and closing filters as well as Midi clock for my Boss slicer (you should all try one - loads of fun) but suddenly thought I could run it as an on/off sustain pedal. Try not to laugh if I have asked something stupid!

can you tell me, if I only use the effects (eq, or chorus, distortion, etc. maybe even the envelope filter) which is not in connection with the oscillators, then the unit is capable of polyphony?

Yes, in that scenario just treat it like any other multi-fx box. You get filter, delay, chorus, distortion, etc.

You have input mixers at every point in the signal. Just don't mix the VCO in and instead mix the bass in.

Another question. I'm really bad at MIDI things. If I want to be able to load presets with a step, I need a MIDI controller pedal? Then I'm able to program the FI with a MIDI controller pedal, and I can set the various presets with one step on the MIDI pedal? Like preset 35 on the MIDI pedal "1", preset 43 on the MIDI pedal "2", etc?

No, other than that the Future Impact is an update of the much older Deep Impact. Some people have talked about features they would like in a hypothetical V2 but V2 does not yet exist, and the developer has not even publicly discussed plans for a V2.

There have been some minor firmware updates and also many people are creating their own patches for personal use and sharing. But no true V2. I hope you get to try it! It's a blast.
