That looks awesome! Unfortunately I need something much more simple, I'd only use it with the FI, so don't need zillion buttons
Who is using something less over the top Midi controller pedal?
If all you're going to do is go up/down patches linearly just use the builtin footswitches. No MIDI controller required. If you're looking to integrate the FI with other MIDI compatible pedals look at the Source Audio Soleman. Fully customizable, preset NAMES instead of just numbers, expression input, and more.
I just picked up about a month ago a Morningstar MC6. I have not put it on my board yet, but will very soon. I have programmed a bunch of banks so far using it.

Long time lurker here and recent joiner of Talkbass. Thought i'd finally speak up.
I've finally ordered one of these and it should be with me in a week or so.
Just wanted to ask if the FI can do a clean Octave effect? If it's good enough and tracks well enough it will save me from buying a separate octave pedal, which means more board space.
Also, would like people's opinions on where they place the FI in their signal chain - and if they ever use it in conjuction with other pedals (mainly distortions or fuzzes) and how well it works with them.

Yes to the octave, it's actually a synth style octave which is what something like the OC-2 tries to emulate. It can't do a pristine digital octave like the POG series though, or at least I haven't tried to get something like that from it.
Chain location: I like it at the front before almost everything, but a few guys have put it later in the chain with success.
With Dist/Fuzz: it depends on the synth patch you use, some of them are already so far out there that using a dist/fuzz with it didn't do much.

Signal chain placement is interesting, I guess i'll have to play around with it and see.
The Future Impact octave sounds really good. I have a patch that sounds extremely similar to the Meatbox but you can also get OC2 style sounds.
I have some demos of an attempt at an OC-2 emulation on my webpage. I even included the patches on the page and in the Google Drive. Check my signature below.
Since I read some charts for my gigs I use Unreal Book on my iPad to change programs. It's flawless and extremely simple. When I call a chart up, it sends a program change message to the FI. For most of the tunes I use the FI on I don't need charts for, so in that case I just make a blank page with the title of the tune and embed the program change command for the FI.
If you have an Android tablet, you can use a program called midi commander to send program changes to. It is very easy to setup.

I'm honestly not crazy about using the FI for a clean octaver. For the synth stuff it's great, but as a clean octave it's just ok IMO. I think my MXR Bass Deluxe octave blows it away. But it really depends on YOUR needs.
Believe me I am not knocking the FI at all. I also wouldn't expect it to be better than other octavers on the market since it offers so much more. In fact it would be very hard to do my gigs now without my FI since I have incorporated it so much in to our live show. Just saying IMO the octaver is ok. And yes it's my opinion. For others it may be fantasic.
It works nicely as an octaver, but you won't be able to adjust settings on the fly like you would on an standalone pedal. You'd have to assign a preset for each type of octave sound you need.
I'd only use 1 octave setting really. 1 octave down - blended 50/50 with my clean signal. What preset would be best?
Just had a listen Gastric and it sounds great. May I ask how you got that sound on the FI?
You can use the 52 Default, or use @gastric 's presets available on our shared google drive folder. He did most of the heavylifting on the sound editor for us

It's fine. The sounds aren't really tailored to electric guitar, it doesn't track super high (especially depending on your incoming tone), and it's obviously not polyphonic so you have to play monophonically. But, when monophonic and within the lower register it tracks fine and there are some sounds that I suppose could be useful.

It works OK to great with a electric guitar on the lower strings.
I really hope in future updates that tracking for higher notes is improved. I can play half way the second string and after that it's just randomness in tracking.
But it does work really nice with another octaver before.
Not having a bass and wanting something analog that sounds great I sourced a OC-2.
I find that together I can get some really great tones. Mind you to get the cleanest tracking you should only use the first octave down and it has to be a higher volume than the dry guitar sound. So I blend in a bit of the dry on the OC-2 and full first octave. Sometimes I put a bit of the second octave also.
But the best I found from all my tests are OC-2 only first octave into the Future Impact for the cleanest tracking.
This way you do lose some envelope following.
The Future Impact has me now sourcing a decent bass guitar and amp combo

Other than that what I really loved about this pedal is that you have a midi controlled VA synth in a box.
I plan to pair it with the Octatrack for sequencing and modulations to see what happens.
Had some great fun making some sequenced techno filtered bass chords the other day.
The secondary input allows you to route the editor and the midi notes separately and this way with some routing on a iConnect midi I could send midi from Ableton while editing on the standalone editor.
Long story short my only gripes with it are:
When used without a bass it needs some dirt after (Decapitator really brings it to life) as it's a retro VA synth.
I feel a VST 64bit dll editor is much needed so I can just insert it straight into Ableton without doing the midi routings.
Also the talked about iPad editor (iPad 1 compatible) would be lovely to take it on the next level on stage without a computer. I'm thinking of making a Lemur one if it's delayed for too long.
TL/DR great reissue it boosts my electric guitar sound palette by a lot
So I received my FI and so far i'm loving it. Would love to hear some patches you guys have made and for what you use them for. Have I heard correctly there is a chorus sound in there somewhere? Maybe I read that wrong.
Also, does anyone know how to change banks on the fly without having to bend over during a show and press the button? Say if I wanted to jump from Bank 0 Preset 1 to Bank 5 Preset 2. I hope that makes sense.
