It is not loud. It is similar to the type of tone that is used to test your hearing. Very high and faint but enough to be heard during more quiet parts of songs. It is a unit from the second run. Original firmware. No updates. Discreet switched multi port power supply.

I tested this and I cannot confirm your observation, nothing will be reset.
  1. To make sure that we know where we start make a reset: turn PARAMETER to the leftmost position (NOTE OFF LEVEL) and keep PROGRAM while powering up.
  2. rS_ appears. Turn the EDIT dial clockwise by one. You performed a reset.
  3. Power on again. You see 015 on the display.
  4. Turn the dial clockwise until you get 019 with blinking dot. Press the dial to store that.
  5. Power on again to check where we start from. 019 appears, editing has been stored. If you press PROGRAM, 02_ blinks, showing that the FI is in DEFAULT MODE.
  6. Keep PROGRAM while powering up. rS_ appears.
  7. Press PROGRAM to step to the next global setting. PrG appears.
  8. Turn the dial clockwise by one. Now you changed from DEFAULT to DIRECT MODE.
  9. Power on again. 019 appears, editing has been kept unchanged. If you press PROGRAM, 029 appears immediately, showing that the FI is in DIRECT MODE.

I think it might be user error, of sorts... it seems if you scroll straight out of RS there is no problem, but if you turn the EDIT dial while first in RS you are going to get a reset even if you can set it back to zero (which it doesn't seem you always can). I always keep my parameter leftmost and my NOTE OFF at 4 so it's easy to see when it's reset.

Don't believe the hype my friend. I owned two deep impacts in the past and it was a great pedal in its own right at the time. Absolutely loved them. But the FI sounds just as good if not better, and factor in the programming aspect, FI is the winner hands down. Save your money and just buy another FI instead.

One FI is enough :) I just wondered if there was any gain to be had in having the DI as an additional pedal on the board, now that they are dropping in price...

It showed up and is indeed the PUC+. I'm having a pretty rough time setting this up now. Keep in mind this is the first time I've done anything with midi and is in no way a reflection on the hardware or software.

Question, is there something I need to change in the editor to make the pedal be able to "hear" program change commands? The person I bought it from switched all the patches to only listen to channel 6 but I don't see on the editor where that is even shown or how to change it. I've got that midi macros app set to send to all channels (just like the above screenshot) but I can't get it to do a thing. Also, is there a separate macro I need to put in to have the effect turn on or off?

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Scratch all that. The PUC+ wasn't set up to output through the midi cable. Flicked that switch and I'm off to the races!

I have set the status to program change and channel to 1 (1-16 available, no omni option). Where I should put in the PC number is the question. I hope to pick up a camera cable in a couple days so I can actually try it. Thanks for any help/thoughts.:thumbsup:

The PUC+ will only do send OR receive, not both. So you have to set that up to send via the PUC+ app. ("Send" means it receives from the Bluetooth connection and sends on the physical 5-pin cable output. "Receive" means the opposite.) You only need to do this once and then you probably don't need to mess with it again. So I would check that first.

Turns out I didn't have the PUC+ setup to output through the midi output. All is better now. I am curious what I have to do make the patch turn on and off though. Can't seem to figure that one out.

That's a CC command instead of a PC one. The number is in the manual.

Yes. I just found it in my app (it's in the manual somewhere, I think). It's CC #66. A value of greater than or equal to 64(?) turns it on, less than that turns it off.
