Hmm. I am not impressed with the two C4 samples. In my opinion Quatschmacher has better patches of bass synth.

Which exact two samples are we talking about?

Side note: I have listened to two complete presentations of the factory default sounds in the FI; the one at Panda' home page, and one on YT, where a man played licks through them all. In addition to that, I also checked out many other FI demos.

For the C4, I think I have seen the major demos on YT, where also various patches from the user community were demoed.

The impression I (still) have, is that the C4 sounds in general have more Attack/"slam", and are a little "dirtier". The unfiltered square waves provided by the very helpful @Quatschmacher display the higher amount of harmonics in the C4.

What do you mean exactly by “attack” here? Do you mean speed of envelopes from note on? Do you simply mean volume? Do you mean a greater presence of certain frequencies?

There’s plenty of dirt on tap in both pedals.

Have you listened through my clips playlists of both pedals on soundcloud? This will give you an idea of what can be done. I’d suggest looking more to the bottom of the lists as that’s where the newer stuff appears.

By attack I mean transient behaviour, how the note is presented and the very initial envelope phase. In the examples I have heard, the FI has seemed smoother and less "chaotic" in the attack.

I do not think further digging into these impressions I have so far will add much to the discussion. Instead I will look at (and enjoy!) your above examples!

Yes, we wrote new sounds for the launch which showcased some of the new features such as full ADSR and the flexi slots (mod matrix). Tracking was also noticeably improved.

On balance, I’ve had much more time with the FI than I have with the C4. As I’ve said, there is some overlap but then there’s stuff that one does that the other doesn’t.

I don't have a C4, but listening all stuff, it seems FI sounds like old analog synths and C4 sounds like moders daw plugins... And it's not bad at all, only different vibes

it was using a markbass super synth with an oscilattor tuned -1 oct and one tuned +1 oct i think, but it did have loads of distortion on it as well, but the base sound was pretty ripping.

Generally "Origin of Symmetry" and "Absolution" are considered their classic albums.

Specific songs with notable synth-y tones (from a wider range of albums) include "Time Is Running Out," "Hysteria," "Uprising," and "Madness." In a lot of cases the way people usually approach these tones is to layer distortion or fuzz in. Chris Wolstenholme has been known for using the original Deep Impact, the Digitech Bass Synth Wah, in addition to various rarer dirt pedals like the Animato.

I didn't admit to this at first because I didn't want to get labeled as a fanboy (which, I mean, I guess I am) but the entire reason I got FI was for Muse sounds. I don't have nearly the time or experience as @Quatschmacher, but the very first sounds I ever created in the editor were for "Time Is Running Out" and "Hysteria." I hadn't uploaded any of them before because I'm constantly tweaking them, but after seeing this I went ahead and uploaded the patch for TIRO. It's in the database now. My Hysteria patch sounds exactly the same, but I've made adjustments to it to get it to track those faster passages, which I'm still working on since I'm still having trouble with getting it to track just right.
