Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Hey I just noticed the FI outputs midi. Is this a new feature? Has anybody used it to input midi tracks into a DAW?
I have a V4 and have used both the MIDI and CV options with some synths and it has worked very well. I have a Behringer 2600 clone, a Casio with good organ and general MIDI sounds and several soft synths VCV Rack and AIR TimewArp2600.

There are rumors of additional features being developed for the V4.

Got my FI v4 VIP, got things up and running yesterday. Not a fan of most of the programs, but there are some gems. I backed up the programs and downloaded a few from the database.

One thing puzzles me - I can copy programs (both ways) between the editor and a file, and also between FI and file. It doesn't seem like I can move/directly copy a program between FI and the editor. Is that correct, and why?

Have you updated the firmware? I still need to update both of mine.

Yes, I updated to 4.12 .

But both in the user manual and the UI there is no way I can see to copy between F1 and editor.
The FIEditor menu has "File to Editor", "Editor to File", "File to FI", and "FI to File", but no "FI to Editor" or "Editor to FI":

Of course it's not strictly necessary, but transferring a program between FI and Editor requires 2 operations so it's less immediate.

Use the Manager to manage files. It’s straightforward. Are you on Mac? It may be under the “mode” tab.

All detailed here:

Also, a source of income opportunity if someone creates a Patreon and offers FImpact presets as a service. You upload your song reference, type of bass and gear, pay $xyz and boom get the prg file in your inbox
Or use the Global directory within the editor to browse the hundreds of free patches I’ve already shared, including lots of classic stuff.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, here's a scenario that comes to mind.

Say I want to go through a bunch of programs and tweak them on the FI using the Editor.

I would like to do it this way:
For each program:
load program from FI to editor
tweak in the editor
write program back to F1

Instead I think I have to do this:
For each program:
save program from FI to file
load program from file to editor
tweak in the editor
save program from editor to file
write program from file to FI

Is that correct?

There’s an easier way:

Use the Manager. Click “download from FI” to populate the 99 tiles. Click a tile corresponding to the patch you want to edit. Switch to the editor and make some edits. Switch back to Manager view. While the tile is still highlighted, click “upload to FI”. It’ll ask if you want to overwrite the files; click yes. It’ll ask if you only want to upload the selected program; click yes.

Repeat for the next patch.

Ah, direct transfers between FI and Editor are handled by the manager. Got it, thanks!

My reply was slightly ambiguous. When you repeat for each subsequent patch, you can skip the first step as of course you do not need to click “download from FI” every single time once the tiles have been populated.

theres a great phaser patch in the user upload database, I use it often

has anyone used the fI as an octave down and up? kind of like the sub n up?

or just as an octave up? how do I program that, same way as an octave down but go up 12 instead of down?
