(I didn't see another thread relating to 4.5, maynpbe we can use this thread to aggregate our 4.5 experiences / knowledge base ?)

Installed yesterday. Wow! The new FM sounds are awesome.

The traditional sound are now known as Virtul Analog or VA.
The Fm are of course FM.

The VA and FM sounds are in separate banks and hve seprte editor pages. There is a kinda weird process for switching banks. It doesn't require you to stand on your hednd whistle 'God Savethe Quenn' but it's close.... When I did the thing and looked back up at the editor it detected that I was in FM and the display was adjusted accordingly. OK in the studio I can live with that...

From the release notes...
For live using Midi You send the PC for the program you want and then a CC#32 value 0 for the VA bank or value 1 for the FM bank.

I'll be testing that later today and will adjust post this if necessary.

It’s perhaps slightly more convoluted than it needs to be. There’s a “mode” button in the editor view (very straightforward). In the manager view you create a new blank tile array of whichever type you want (less direct). (I did ask for this to be changed to the same mode button from the other view and the previous “new” button for adding a fresh tile array but it got vetoed.) From either view, there’s a switching option in the “file” menu.

I did not know version 4.5 was available. Did this just drop? I just received my VIP about a week ago. I'm not really having a problem with tracking on version 4 but if 4.5 is better and ready to download, I'm in. Never mind. Found, downloaded, gotta go....

Send PC15 followed by CC32 and value=1
That pulls program 15 from Bank 1, the FM sound bank.
FI display now reads 1.5

Send PC15 followed by CC32 Value=0 to pull Program 15 from Bank 0, the VA sound bank.
The display would then read 15.

Or just program using the setlist feature then you don’t need to send any bank messages as you specify the engine in the setlist step.

OK but I can't call put a single step in the setlist by midi is what I understand. That means I'd need a whole new approach to things?
It took less than 10 minutes to add that step to my MC6... Honestly the setlist looks to me like the answer to a question nobody is asking. That is to say I don't see a use case for it. Or I simply don't understnd it well enough... Who knows? maybe your guys crystal ball is clearer than mine :-) time will tell.

On first blush Latency has been improved, TBH I don't understand anyone having an issue with this on the FIV4 but 4.5 is an improvement. Tracking is more sensitive which may or may not be what you are looking for. I have to really tighten up attack and be especially aware cut off when using the FI but nuances like pitch bend is more musical. The new 'song' presets blow out the MXR IMHO.

How so? For users that don’t use MIDI, this is a way to set up a sequential list of patches that draws from both engines at will, can include repeats of a particular patch and avoids any need to use the editor to achieve it.

I’ve been pretty vocal about latency with the FI V4 and the MXR. I’ve also been clear about being in the apparent minority on that fact. There are a few of us mentioning it while the majority have no issue with it. If 4.5 improves things it might cross the threshold into territory where it’s no longer an issue for me. I would very much welcome that change since the sound of the FI was so great while I briefly owned that I really wanted to keep it.

Are you talking about the original full-sized one with the spaceship theme or the Compact version that is just metallic red? In either case, 100% your loss!

I don’t care wgat it looks like as long as it performs correctly.

I’m still awaiting the invoice they said would be coming shortly. I placed the order last night before going to bed. Andras sent an email at 4:07 am this morning. I responded at 9:50 am, but no invoice yet. I responded a second time just a few minutes ago.
