Future of Genz Benz?

Doesn't seem so, does it? Bunch of Negative Nellies on here. As my dad always says, "They'd complain if you hung them with a new rope!" All this whining and complaining is very unbecoming to real men like me. Meanwhile, put any of the complainers in charge of FMIC and it's done within a year.

A) With a corporation of this size the "guy in charge" is never just one guy so you're kinda talking out yer (albeit very manly) butt with the "see if you could do better" line JM

B) You give me a crack at making a few key marketing changes, some leeway with the bean counters and I could kick some serious ass. I understand enough about R&D, manufacturing, distribution, retail, customer service and the corporate mentality to put my money where my mouth is.

The fact this thread even exists is evidence enough that Fender is mishandling the situation.

Half off MSRP or half off street price?
Street price for a Max 9.2 has been around around $850 for the past year or so. I paid $695 a year ago, which included shipping direct from the GB warehouse.

Granted, I only spent 30 minutes or so yesterday, but (as posted above) I could only find 2 units cheaper and one at roughly what I paid last Sept.

Maybe prices have dropped on other models. I only searched on the model I'm familiar with. And maybe prices will drop in the near future on the Max 9.2, but they haven't yet.

Almost half off street. Check the post above thus one:)

Thanks a lot Slick. I wasn't going to throw this out there until I had the extra cash to pick one of these up later this month.:)

OK...I'm a dealer...and the rumors are true....Genz Benz is going away....there will be no more products with the Genz Benz name on them...and I was told they are going to China with all the amps....no word on the cabs yet.

I have an opinion on this....but it's probably best that I keep it to myself. ;)

Naw, mine are real.

Regardless of the specifics and moral imperatives, or lack of same, it simply sucks. IMHO this is a company that listened to bass players, understood the market and innovated in a meaningful way. I love their stuff and will have/keep it for years.

Just stupid. They get phased out and fender keeps putting out rehashed crap? What is going on? I've got a 9.2 and 12.2 that aren't going anywhere. Either is a better amp than anything else on the market. Period.

I wouldn't write off Fender yet. It certainly looks like the old GB folks are still gainfully employed - so I'm hoping that some good Fender branded bass amps are one the way.

That said, you can pry my ShuttleMax from my cold, dead hands. :D

I with Handyman in hoping something good can come of it although if Fender is going to send the build to China my hopes aren't very high. I got my 9.0 just before the 9.2 was released , I have / had no thought of replacing it. If I can get a StL 900 and or a 12.2 Max for clearance price like I did the 9.0 I will get one or both.....what a shame

Finally! Someone who understands something about reputation management & branding. And this isn't the first time that Jeff has hit the nail on the head either.

What have I been saying? (See post #81.)

Just out of curiosity (and since we're all armchair executives here anyway), what specific measures would you take to "kick ass"?

I knew it! I'd hoped that Fender wouldn't be so stupid as to ditch the Genz Benz brand, but that's exactly what they're going to do.

IMO, the Genz Benz brand could benefit a lot more by taking advantage of Fender's marketing & distribution muscle, than the Fender brand will ever benefit from incorporating Genz Benz's design innovation & technology.

It's hard to see how this makes any strategic sense, and isn't simply another futile exercise in corporate vanity... :rollno:
