Fuzz addict club! If you don't like it fuzz off!

I think the biggest reason I wanted the OFD was so I could hear what various types of Fuzz -- the trunk and thick branches of the fuzz family tree -- sounded like back-to-back. I don't really have a conception of Muff vs ToneBender vs Fuzz Face etc. and can't own one of each. I thought it might help me identify what types of fuzz pedals I like most. I might end up flipping it in a few weeks as a result.
Sounds like a smart decision to me. :)

The BDPG is here assembling the suspects to see what the stacking order will be:
Austone Fuzz Nutz TexTone, Dano French Toast octave fuzz, GGG Brass Master ala Karter 2000, HJjart Muller Lo|Fat bass od, EH Bass Balls Fuzz On, Joyo California, Dano Daddy O. May pull out some oldies but i think that will do especially after i add the MXR Bass Distortion in a couple of weeks.

Yeah buddy!!! Got my 250 back from Ryan (big game). I had him finish the LED mod I failed on and couldn't figure out how to fix. He also threw me a curve and put in a 3 way toggle. Not quite sure what it does. But I'm super happy it's back home!!!! :D goodbye submarine hehe God I love this pedal.

I wonder if the 3 way switch is like the VFE I have, or the Analogman version. 741 chip 250, MXR boost, and Distortion+..

@XXL, it's a slight treble boost. It removes a cap. It's not crazy noticeable. But I do notice it. I remember I was talking about how I wish I could get a little more bite out of it. That was his solution without drastic measures. There's not a lot of room in there. He was even thinking of putting a 2 band in it. Not bad.

Nice to have a bit of a boost there, super cool of him to do that for you. The two band would of been pretty sweet to have.

I have 3 different versions of the 250 and they all have different feels but all coming from the same place you now. The BYOC 250 is dark and tubey, the Gray Speck is bitey and growly, and the VFE has the most gain and options. Dig them all and I even want more 250's.

Very good and accurate descriptions of all those. My speck is like that too. Higher gain it starts getting a little fake sounding but that sweet spot is oh so sweet. The 250 that me and BM17 is the heavy 2013 reissue. It's dark and warm and lovely. The VFE was sweet too, just overkill for rhat I have. Sold it to my guitarist haha. I love the 250. Just want to keep playing and playing when it's on.

^^^^^ sweet board! Make with the describing, please. I'm not familiar with any of those. My wallet thanks you in advance. ;)

HAH..hmm describing fuzzzzz.

The DOD FX52 sounds like a basic big muff to me, it does have alot of fuzz on tap though, it has a boost section on the fuzz dial and it gets wild. The most affordable fuzz pedal I own and I prefer it in a clean blend but using the tone knob can dial in some decent low end or some mids.

The silver pedal with the Mandalorian symbol is a BYOC Leeds Fuzz I built which is based off the Super Fuzz, awesome pedal, very mean sounding. I have a clip of it on You Tube, or here is a link>> LEEDS If your handy with a solder iron I definitely recommend it.

The EarthQuaker Devices Terminal is an interesting fuzz to say the least. It has a ton of natural low end, no need for a blend and there is not a blend on it, It gets synthy but not in a wooly mammoth, oxide, kind of way. Its like I don't need an octave to get it synthy. Its absolutely the most unique fuzz I have and it just sounds so.... angry. Theres a couple in the TB gassifieds right now and Im surprised they are still there actually, I guess its just not known around the bass community yet.

Here is a sound cloud clip I made of it on my Iphone when I was pissed and had to let out some aggression. Yes the TV was on lol[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler is another pedal that is not real known among bassists but its actually IMO the gated fuzz to have. It has both a built in clean blend and volume control, expression pedal control, and a switch to dial in either the gated fuzz or a nice OD/Distortion. Its built so clean and I wish all my pedals had the footswitching system that the Dr. Scientist has. Its not based off any classic fuzz circuit that I know off and is basically its own animal, very cool fuzz.

The Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh Supreme - The ultimate supped up Big Muff based pedal. It has everything you need to rock the fuzz, doesnt have a clean blend but really IMO doesnt need it. Ive talked about this fuzz alot and have a thread on it here in the effects forum with some soundclips. The most expensive fuzz pedal I own but man does it has all the bells and whistles a fuzz could have.

I want a supped up Superfuzz, want to try a Bee Baa fuzz and never tried a Tonebender type fuzz either, those are on my to do list.

DUDE! F'n awesome!!!!

So how do you like it??? Did it fire up 1st time you tried it? and now you gotta build the 250 or send it to me..ill build it ;)

I tried an Earthquaker Devices Dirt Transmitter today at a local music store and I have to say of all the fuzzes I've tried recently this was the one that really got me going the most! First of all I totally dig the sound of gated style fuzzes the best and this one sounds amazing for that due to its bias control. I was able to get a pretty decent "Time Is Running Out" very quickly with it. It's definitely been added to the GAS list along with the Malekko Diabolik and the 3Leaf You're Doom! I haven't had the opportunity to play through either of those ones yet unfortunately...

I like gated fuzzs as well. The Dirt Transmitter is on my fuzz list, though its been bumped up a bit now. Never tried the Diabolik though it seems to be the fuzz to use if you want to be heard, I use to own a You're Doom, unforuntaly for me I never got the super touch sensitve fuzz out of it that others have, but I did get some great tones.

The Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler is one of my favorites for gated fuzz tones, worth a look.

It's cool man. Way different than I thought it was gonna be when I first turned it on. I wish it was a bit louder. I need to mess with the internal octave trim. It wasn't standing out in a mix how I hoped it would. Seems like a great fuzz for a solo riff here and there. I don't know if it will stay on the board but I am glad I have it. It will get its uses. Plenty good bass retention. The switch set to scoop sounds pretty useless. On bass IMO but set to the right it sound much better.

I'll have to check out the Frazz Dazzler for sure if I come across it. I also had fun with the Earthquaker Terminal as well though that was more to satisfy my love that "Exit Music for a Film" sound that I love! The Diabolik has been on my list for quite some time but I just can't find one to check out and I'm more interested in the You're Doom for its awesome synthy vibe which I absolutely love (at least in sound clips of it anyway!). Wish I had a lot of $$ then I'd get them all!
