Fuzzrocious Club - Sextuplet

Why would you get a dirt preamp for a clean tone anyway? Personally I don't see why you would want a clean preamp unless your unhappy with your sound to begin with, in which case I would get a better amp, bass, strings etc. I say let it be dirty, its a tone that will grow on you, especially at the end of your chain before modulation effects if you use them.

Nowadays people forget that the heritage of the electric bass is dirty. If you listened to a ton of vintage recordings from all genres and single out the bass, you would realize its distorted in some way. For starters, amps weren't loud enough, so everyone cranked them, making them distort. Engineers then realized how useful this was for fattening up a track, and continue to distort the bass to help it sit in the mix. Pristine clean tone for bass is a phenomena of the jazz fusion scene in the 80's, which in turn led to an overabundance of lifeless sounding overly clean high power amps that have no soul, but even Jaco let it get dirty, it just sounds more subtle on fretless.

Cool. Never thought of it this way but it makes perfect sense.

Why would anyone presume my tonal goals? As it happens I am looking for that exact just a touch of SS help but not always on. I found it in that demo.

I use effects and preamp straight into PA to play ""jazz"" with a dose of whatever I feel like at the time. Keyboard player started playing with a wah pedal and before I knew it I have a pedalboard bigger than most guitarists'.

I'm on phone and not been to Fuzzrocious to see the improvements but from the sound of it the point hasn't yet been made about the unclean demo operating in the reduced gain mode.

Perhaps a direct email is more appropriate for correcting this issue that you are solely experiencing with your BDPG rather than go back and forth on this thread.

Are you referring to my demo??

FWIW...I have a Dr. Scientist Elements and it works the same way. When you turn the Gain down to get a near clean tone, the Volume has to be Cranked to compensate. I would imagine Most if not all work like that. I've tried tons of ODs, and to get near clean with the slightest hint of grit you HAVE to Crank the volume.

If you just want a clean boost, Seymour Duncan makes makes a Booster pedal that might serve your needs. You can pick them up cheap used too.
If I'm not understanding your problem correctlly, then disregard this and I apologize. Just trying to help.

Also FWIW, in a band mix the BDPGs super mild grit it NOT noticeable. In fact I use it exclusively wit my acoustic bass in our acoustic sets.
Peace and Cheers!

I understand that the tone you want can be achieved with this pedal, but its not the pedals strong point volume wise. You can boost it and probably get what you want. With all do respect, the videos are subpar, there are so many factors which can make the volume drop unnoticeable. Ryan is a creative fellow. What you want could be the subject of a custom one off pedal, tailored for you. I just love bass distortion.

Yep! We could help the issue easily :)

Not mine. I love what it does and I've found a way to have my cake and eat it with the highpass, not for everyone that.

Anyone would think I had accused Fuzzrocious of misrepresenting it. I made a simple request to clear up the language on the site, so that newcomers to overdrive like myself aren't caught out as I was. I don't feel like a thicko for failing to join nebulous dots or trying to hit a home run with my first od.

Got my BDPG and Dali Stache in yesterday. Got to try out the BDPG last night and it's pretty sweet. I used it similar to Allen to warm up my Jazz with flats for an acoustic set. Didn't get a chance to rock the Stache yet, can't wait to unleash that guy.
