I need me a orange or blue grey stache with a gain boost. Still on the fence about needing a diode toggle though.

Ryan!! for every day you make me wait... I'll send you a fruitcake!! MWAH HA HA!!
(people hate fruitcake, right?)

Regarding the Stache, whould the gate footswitch mod also include a treshold pot? And are any of the diode options significantly more raw and 'open' sounding than the diode-less tone?
A gate kills the signal when it goes below a certain level, right?A threshold? As in a noise gate? If this is what you mean, no. It's a physical gate, not a noise gate in particular. In short, it drain the signal off of the Q3 transistor to ground quickly, killing the signal.
What I mean is, which option is the least 'smooth' sounding? The middle setting on our toggle is "no diodes". You can't get more open than that!
After that, LEDs are the most open sounding of all of the diodes.

I was talking about two different things. One, will the gate completely kill the signal when it goes below a certain level? And two, which option (diode/no diode) provides the 'dirtiest' sound? The gate in the muff circuit can't smooth. It's a different type of gating, just a one trick pony. Sorry man![]()

And what I really wanted to know, is this 'certain point' adjustable?Yes, the gate will kill it below a certain point.
So, dirtier than no diodes?LEDs or 4001s are the dirtiest IMO.

"Exernal knobs for tone and gain - $20"
It's external knobs for internal trimmers for gain and amount of bass?

What certain point?
That certain point. Not to sound bratty, but do you really read the posts you reply to?Yes, the gate will kill it below a certain point.
So... If I want a 'GARR' rather than a 'BZZ', which is best?No diodes is the most open, least compressed, loudest, and least dirtiest you can get.

Ryan, say the world and I'll take care of him. *punches fist*
