G. Gould Basses @ Rocket Music!

@GeoffGould sent me some progress pics the other day of two basses I've got on order. Many thanks, Geoff!

Here's the before and after of the body for the Swimming Pool Burst GGi5. A little color lovingly applied goes a long way!

Hopefully the first sale of many! This GGi5 in Swimming Pool Burst is not even done yet (should be next week), but it just sold anyway!

Here are a couple of new orders that I placed recently, estimated completion date is mid to late April.

These are both GGi5 Customs with exotic wood tops (Cocobola and Figured Walnut) on torrified Eastern Pine. Both will have a natural gloss finish, graphite neck, black hardware, EMG soapbars and 2-band active EQ.

Here are my photos of the Swimming Pool Burst GGi5 that arrived here at Rocket earlier today.

What a bass! The neck is nice and slender, comfy enough to almost make this 4-string player consider jumping back in the 5-string pond. Fabulous tone. Phat but not boomy, very articulate yet muscular.

@GeoffGould showed a couple bodies with Spalted Maple tops on facebook the other day, and I pounced on this one.

The question now is what finish to put on this lovely piece of wood. Natural? Amber? Clear red (or blue or green)? Something else? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

natural for me! With black hardware:drool:

That certainly seems to be the overwhelming choice, according to a quick google search. This piece already has some lovely red coloring going on, so covering that up with a colored finish might be considered criminal by some (many?).

Something similar is natural with a black burst. I sort of like the idea of hiding the transition from the maple top to the body back wood. And maybe even paint the entire back in that solid burst color so you're left to wonder if the whole thing is made of spalted maple. LOL

Speaking of black hardware!

Geoff recently sent me an update of [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. A few weeks back, I changed the hardware color to black and the bridge to a Hipshot. Those two options will add a little bit to the price currently shown on my site, but I'm not sure exactly how much yet. I'll update the listing once I am sure about that.

In the meantime, this bass looks smoking!!! The black hardware was such a good call.

that is very classy and sharp! Maybe some DR black beauty strings too?

I've seen one or two that Geoff posted that have a finish called "Bee's Wing". I think that black burst might be the same thing. I think it's a cool finish, especially for that spalted pattern.

Oh, yeah, that finish definitely caught my eye when I first started sniffing around Geoff's brand. Good idea!

That [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] is now done and should ship today or tomorrow. It should arrive here at Rocket towards the middle or end of next week.

I received an invoice for the bass with cost breakdown, so I was able to update the listing on my website with the correct/final pricing just now. Nothing left to do but get it listed with my final photos and then find the guy/gal who has to have it. Just that easy!

I have a GGi4 that is transparent black and burst (more opaque black around the edges) that looks really nice with the figured maple underneath. It the only passive PJ that I've ever seen from G. Gould. Sounds nice (although I ended up changing the bridge pickup to a 10% overwind to get the pickup levels closer).

Nice! Please share a pic if you're able, whenever it's convenient.
