So, 4-string coming soon, but it will be months until they get any new 5-strings in. Currently a shortage in stores.

I think you're safe for a while. It's hard enough to keep up with 5-string orders. 6-strings are hiding in the wings.
Activity in this thread seems to have slowed down. I own a lot of basses but my ggi6 is my go to bass since I got it. I will play it at my church gig in the morning. When I compare my other basses to my Gould basses I realize I really could just own my two Gould basses and get by just fine. They sound fantastic in every setting.

I've had some production slowdown issues, so there's not been a lot of new basses leaving here. General list: Walnut topped GGi5 soon to Chicago, clear blue quilt GGi5 to Monterey, swamp ash aged clear GGi5-S-MM40 to Nashville, and a few more ASAP. Currently, only ones in stock are the roasted fiddleback GGi5 in Nashville, and the quilt maple decadence NAMM GGi5 in Arizona.
Saw some pics of that bass on Facebook, holy crap is that gorgeous! :::swoon:::
@GeoffGould any plans to offer a neck-thru model at some point in the future?

"plans" is probably not the right word. "Hopes" and "long term strategy" is more like it. I would like to do it, but not really sure people can afford them. It's great to pickup a used TBX at a great price when someone just feels like letting it go, but another to order one at a price in line with how expensive they are to make. I mean, how many players are dropping $6K and up for basses these days?
I've owned a lot of basses through the years and very few neck thru basses made it to my list of favorites. There is something about the punch that bolt on basses have that suits me better. Of course, others have their own perfectly valid opinions.
I own only one neck thru bass presently. It is an older Peavey Cirrus 6 that is a lovely instrument in many ways and was built with very pretty woods. However, it does not play nearly as evenly as my ggi6 nor does it have the fantastic B string my Gould basses have.
Personally, I would not purchase a neck thru Gould bass but that is just my opinion. Others may jump at the chance to have a neck thru Gould bass.
Really all I would really like to have is a fretless Gould and there is one on Reverb that I have been thinking about. I am selling off some other basses and if it works out financially I will buy that fretless. Then I will certainly have everything I need in 3 G.Gould basses.
By the way, Geoff, I agree that you have been building some very beautiful basses lately. My Mary Kaye Blue ggi5 is plain in comparison but I love it dearly because it is a wonderful playing and sounding bass as is my ggi6. No, the honeymoon is far from over!

I think the discontinuity of the bolt-on provides a certain tone people like. I kind of like the pure pulse of a thru-body, but that's just me.

Geoff, thanks for the personal reply. I am looking at the quilt maple one at the Bass Place in AZ. Is that neck similar to what you’ve described?

yes, very fast feel neck. Good reviews from those that played it at NAMM.
