No, I developed the SPi while I was at Modulus. What I'm referring to is that on newer models (after I left) there is no space between the neck pickup and the bottom of the neck joint.

Hi @GeoffGould I've been poking around your website, but don't see any info on string spacing... what's the string spacing for your Standard 4-string basses? Also, have you ever built a bass with an MM/P configuration? I see at least one MM/J online, so curious if sticking a P in the neck position would sound good. Thanks!

It's no problem I'm guessing the easiest way would be to put in one of the emg p in a soap bar

the standard soapbar in the neck is a P configuration on the inside. I'm enclosing a picture here of a new model. This should arrive in Nashville in the next few weeks.

As far as string spacing goes, I have some specs here:

But in general, the 4-strings have standard 19mm string spacing at the bridge, and the 5 and 6 strings are around 17.5mm at the bridge.

In the 1970's there was a saying that an opinion was like a Ford Mustang...everyone has one. Here is mine.

My ggi5 has the EMG soap bar pick ups and the bridge PU is the one that can become a single coil by pulling up on the volume knob. My ggi6 has the regular dual coil humbuckers that Geoff uses. Both have two band EQ and my question is this: What could be better? They sound amazing with great clarity and a very nice unprocessed tone. The neck PU on each one will mimic a P pickup since, as Geoff told us, it is in a P bass configuration. Why give up the active EQ which is very musical and so nice to have on board?

I am old enough to remember the first time I saw a bass with a battery. It was a Music Man Stingray or Sabre. I thought "Why would you want a battery in a bass?"

Times have changed.

Using my ggi6 in a new band. It is perfect for the gig and sounds so very good. I am very blessed to have that wonderful bass to play.
