Yes, it is the NAMM bass. I talked Mike out of it and was only able to do it because it is a 5 and not a 6 string! LOL

Hey Chuck! I'm glad you were able to get back into a GGi5. The Mary Kaye Blue GGi5 you sold me is still an amazing bass! The color gets lots of love from everyone who sees it, and it has been my go-to for several worship services already. @GeoffGould Two big thumbs up for the proprietary EMG neck pickup that has the single magnet it in. I usually run it and the MM pickup full on, but there was a song that needed an overdriven p bass with a pick type of tone and it totally delivered while running it solo.
So happy it is working for you. It is a great bass. The ggi5 I just got will go to church Sunday. I am loving it.
This bass is for sale in the classifieds. He is calling it a GGi6...I think he means ggi6 but what is the actual model designation for this maple necked bass?
I had a early 5 string and the neck on that one was similar to the Modulus Genesis. That one was not a ggi5 although I cannot remember what Geoff called it. This one looks to have an all maple neck. Cool looking bass.

at the risk of jumping over geoff's response, the bass in the classifieds is a GGJ6.
there was another one years ago that caught my eye but i don't play well with six-stringers. maybe in the future i'll try another but with the upper 'c' string tuned to a 'b' like a guitar...

The one in this picture is a GGJ6. The other one, is an in-between model; essentially a GGi6 with a hybrid maple-graphite neck. The body horns are different, and the peghead is 3+3 instead of 4+2.
That is quite a nice looking Cocobolo six-stringer. Pnutz is correct about the model designation. I used to have a Walnut GGj5 that I bought from Pnutz about 20 years ago. The headstock and body shape of the GGj basses is different than the GGi basses. After the GGj5 I bought a Cocobolo GGi5 new from a local music shop. I much preferred the neck profile on the GGi5, much wider and flatter. The neck on the GGj5 had a similar feel to a jazz bass neck, rounded slightly and deeper with tight spacing at the nut. The Walnut bass had a much punchier B string than the Cocobolo one does. Pickups in the Walnut one were EMG "Jazz" soapbars, probably wound to Goeff's specs and to my ears lacking the kind of low end characteristic I prefer. The Cocobolo bass has EMGs that were built to Geoff's specs, humbucker style but modded to sound similar to single-coil pickups. Both of my G Goulds had the same type of maple neck construction with the graphite reinforcement as seen in the photos of the GGj6. I may be in the minority but I prefer the Maple neck G. Goulds to the graphite ones.

Okay after reading Geoff's comment I realized my comment was about the model designation of the Cocobolo six-string. Looking again at the six-string that is for sale I now see why Geoff is referring to it as a "in-between model" GGi6".

It’s an amazing instrument. Longtime Modulus Quantum player here, and I knew I’d love the Gould! I have Bart’s in most of my other basses, (Roscoes, & Modulus) but I’m diggin the Emg’s. Itl be fun to hear this bass in a live band mix!

I received my first G. Gould bass today, a GGi4-DS, and it is a complete disaster. I requested a refund within two minutes of opening the package.
The pickup is crooked. The neck is installed crooked. The truss rod cover is off center, as is the screw in it. Fretboard dots are off center. This bass shouldn't cost $300, much less $3,000. I'm stunned. Did a blind monkey build this?

I considered this one also, aside from your displeasure with the build I am curious how it sounded if you even got around to that part. There is a dual Bi Sonic model for sale right now at another dealer and would like to know your impression of the sound/tone. I thought it was a great looking bass sorry to hear its not up to snuff.
Ok, first off - welcome to the club Afc70 - #32! Also - while I too was a Bart guy for years, the EMGs in these basses are tonal chameleons that work perfectly with the instrument. You also seem to have an extra knob on yours (mid eq?) whatever it does can only make it more versatile. As for the numbers - If I missed anyone else along the way, please let me know.
Now, on to MMiller - I guess I’ll hold off on giving you a number, at least until your issue is resolved. I am not sure what to say about your experience. It was the polar opposite of mine (and I think everyone else on this forum). It almost looks like the bass got bumped slightly or not quite seated properly when routing - the pickups and neck pocket seem to all be angled the same way and to roughly the same degree. I’m not sure about the truss rod cover, but it also seems skewed in line with the body routes.
The neck pocket is probably the least concerning - mine can have small gaps at times - I think to allow the wood to expand/contract since the graphite doesn’t move. But yours looks larger and off center. Also the gaps on mine are on the sides of the neck and the neck is so solid and so well married to the body that it doesn’t affect anything. Still, I can understand your frustration.
All I can say is that Mr. Gould is an excellent craftsman and very responsive both here and by email. Hopefully, he will respond and I would urge you to give his basses a second chance - they are well worth it.
Lastly, I was also wondering about the bisonic pickups - are they made with real bison?
