View attachment 4196940 View attachment 4196941 Ok, looking for some Bartolini gurus here.. I’ll summarize- I absolutely love my G Gould 5, but I’ve got several upcoming festival gigs with a modern country group, (my 1995 Modulus Quantum 5 loaded with Barts, Bart 18v pre) is my go-to bass. It kills on everything.
My G Gould 5, is loaded with the Emg Dc40’s & the 18v Emg pre (with mid control circuit) it sounds great, but not what I’m looking for with this new gig I’ve accepted.
I’m heavily leaning towards going with an all bart setup in my Gould.. 18v bart pre, bart pickups... *love the feel & playability of it, so I’d prefer to keep it *
(Alternative would be to trade/sell for another Gould/ or Modulus loaded w/ barts)
Which barts would y’all recommend?
1)- the original series (seems to be warmer, less highs than the classic barts, from what I’ve read.
2) classic barts- offer more high end /modern tone without sacrificing low end.
There are other offerings in the 4” x1.5” dimension Emg Dc40 replacement pickups from Bartolini.
Thoughts & experiences?
Appreciate the input!
Edit: I originally had considered keeping the Emg pickups & swapping the pre to an Aguilar Obp3 (for a thicker meatier tone) , & haven’t completely ruled that out yet either, & if anybody has a bass loaded with Emgs/ Aguilar Obp-3, & has some sound clips, I’d be very happy to hear them,
Thanks!
That’d be awesome, I’ve really been wanting to hear that combination,I'll have some samples soon enough with the EMG/Aguilar pre set up.
I know this may sound counter intuitive but I would suggest (if you can test drive em in a Gould or Modulus) trying the EMGX pickups and A/B them to the Barts!! It may give you a really different perspective of EMGs and especially with Geoff's EMG45x special pickup in neck!! that way you'll really hear the differences vrs experimenting and hoping to nail the right combo!!

NBD. Padauk top, gold hardware. I’ve been eyeing this one for a while, finally pulled the trigger. I know gold hardware is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it looks killer on this bass.
was this the one from 'bass and beyond'? remember something similar there but their site is down.View attachment 4270141

Juan (B&B owner) is a good guy, but has been hit hard during the last year. I was always surprised this bass didn't go sooner. I can tell you there've been a lot of lookers. Enjoy.

I talked to Juan, and he is still in biz (I have a GGi4-S and a GGi5 headed his way) but he's just not a tech guy. I told him to lean on his web guy a little harder. Things shouldn't be down this long!was this the one from 'bass and beyond'? remember something similar there but their site is down.
