We're working on a concept for video demos. In this modern age, people want to hear a bass before ordering online. Who can blame them? The problem is that it can be kind of cumbersome for some stores to produce these things. I'm working with The Bass Place in Arizona on this idea. Rob Fix, who works there, has started this "Minute Review" idea. Quick and simple, a couple of scales with the different pickups, and that's it. I took the raw video and wrapped in in some simple titles. I can think of a few things I'd like to improve, but wonder what you think, and what improvement could be simply made. If the template is easy enough, every custom bass can have a video profile. By the way, don't listen on phone or laptop speakers. Use headphones, or some good speakers. We're talking about the King of Bassses here, right?

It sounds great. I think it would be helpful if we knew the amplification used since that is a big part of how a bass sounds.
The scale played does reveal the clarity and evenness of the tone of that ggi5. I have explained that to players and enjoy their amazement when they play one of my Gould basses and experience it for themselves.
My ggi6 remains my "if I could only have one" electric bass. The last gig I used it for is one where I usually play upright bass and one of the fans of that group told me he couldn't believe how great that bass sounds. Redoubtable. That is the word....redoubtable. The first time you hear it you can't believe how good it sounds and the next time...well, you can't believe how good it sounds.

So, here's another one. The Deep Space One. Single Novak BS/DS pickup. Push/Pull master volume switches between the louder BS and the more 'hi-fi' DS windings:

Do you keep a record of your basses that you have made over the years? I noticed recently that mine has five knobs instead of four. Also, I have never seen another in this finish and I was wondering just how unique it is. I believe it is serial number 1114 but part of the last digit rubbed off that was on the back of the headstock. Is there somewhere else that you serialized this bass potentially? By the way I have owned and played many other basses and none of them give me the confidence that my G. Gould does. I posted at the beginning of this thread under the user Wellgo. Don't know when or why I changed my handle but I am club member number 5.

looks like geoff, during that time, preferred using the emg b30eq preamp setup (vol/pan/bass/mids/treble). my serial # is next to yours. there's a walnut-topped one online also with the same layout (low end bass shop).

It's far enough back, that I was writing by hand, and there's a remote possibility I could've made a mistake, and issued a duplicate s/n. But I do show a different s/n 1114. Is there any chance this bass came from Japan? I usually put Hipshot tuners on Japanese-bound basses.
Thank you for checking. I bought this bass from the Bass Place around 2007-2008. I honestly don't recall if it was used or new but I think it was used. Is there any other indicators I can check? I can upload more pics if that helps. This isn't critical, I was just curious.

Hey all I’ve been watching this recent thread about serial numbers and was wondering why the number being referenced sounded so familiar. Well, as it turns out I am the proud owner of number 1114. It came to me recently by way of the talk base classifieds. Prior to that it was at the low end bass shop. Not sure where it was prior to that. Pics below:

Unless someone else has it, could it be s/n 1110? There's a sale to Bass Place where they provided the tuners, and it fits the description as far as quilt top goes.

This is just another reason why I appreciate Geoff Gould as an individual and a luthier. Some years ago I had a friend who had his high end bass stolen. He didn't write down his serial number. (yes bad move but) He contacted the bass luthier & gave him the time frame of when he purchased it. This luthier wouldn't even take the time to research to help ID his instrument.. Needless to say, I know a number of bassists in this town that will never deal with that particular luthier..
That could be it! Unless someone else comes forward with that number I guess I will role with it. Thank you very much for checking.
Finally got my ggi6 finished. When I got the bass it had the original ABM bridge. The neck was built for 16.5mm spacing and the ABM was 17mm bridge so the saddles were adjusted to compensate and didn't leave room for more. I replaced with a Hipshot 16.5mm bridge which works very well for the instrument. Also added hipshot ultralight tuners cause I like them!
