G. Gould Club!

Some may see it as "naturally reliced", but truss rod and action are deal breakers.

Yep the chips and nicks are “fine” but twisted neck you can’t fix that. You should see the self-refinished of a Modulus I bought lately, but the neck was straight (:knock on wood…or carbon:), the price reflected that and I’ve put the saving in refinish. I’ll go and try to check this one next week, the color is really nice for sure.

Does G.Gould would set up a new neck?

Id have to see it. I’ve never seen one of my necks “twisted.” I suspect some surgery would fix things. It sure looks beat up!

It could have been a language issue. I believe they disclaimed that they used a web translator in the message to me. But the pictures did not look promising. Perhaps what they were communicating was that the neck was bowed and the TR maxed. Not ideal but a more workable solution, though I would imagine the wood fingerboards are epoxied on to the neck, rendering a heat press way less effective?

In any case you'd need to have some work being done, that's be 300 USD in shipping only (back and forth), surgery and stuff...you have gone beyond a used one would cost

Here are the pictures they sent me. This thing is beat up from the feet up. Looks like it has a lot of residual grime from tobacco smoke as well. Save for the big chips on the horn and headstock, none of this showed up in the 4 shots of the bass that are featured on the listing. Most of their listings are that way so if you are buying from this seller, request lots of pictures!

Ok I went to the store to play that one. It is surely well beaten with chips and scuff (as the pictures), the pot are noisy and the jack has probably faulty connections. That being said the neck looked ok to me and action set up was kinda ok, very playable though there is a bit of fret buzz. Did not inquire about wether the truss condition (not super friendly staff)

So probably needs a bit of work and adjustment and you would have to live with that finish and nicks. Still think for the condition it's a bit overprice (maybe you can do an offer to them)

That's great that you were able to check in out in person. Thanks for the info!

This one is a hard pass for me and should be for anyone else, at the current price.

That the staff is not friendly concerns me and makes me believe their pictures and lack thereof were to deceive, though thankfully they did disclose before shipping. Had I not been up late that night I might not have been able to cancel before the bass was shipped.

This bass has been listed for at least two years with the price coming down gradually from where it started (at more that double the current price). I agree that it needs to come down even more to make sense. That said, I would be leery to purchase anything from this store.

Hopefully anyone looking at that instrument will find this thread first.
