Honestly, unless you're actually flying, get a Gator ProGo bag...seriously. Hands-down, best bag out there, because it's the beefiest and most padded one around, and has tons of storage room, and just defeats the purpose of a case if you're not flying. It even has a little indentation for the bottom strap pin, so the heavy padding down there does it's job. It blows Mono away, because I've had their bags, and they are hyped up. The Vertigo is good, only if you have an Ibanez Soundgear bass, though. The Gator is the only bag I've ever had that stands up on it's own, too! Gator did their homework.

Mine came with a fender case, the bass fits in the case but has room to move around just like by the looks of it that SKB you got. I have been wondering if they would fit in the old TKL modulus quantum case? TKL also has some new vectra cases that may work well?

The old Moduluses had that skinnier, more elongated upper horn, and a pointier lower one, so don't know if that'd work. Peavey's Cirrus cases were very similar, too.

I like the cases that have the diced foam interior, so you can literally customize it to fit your exact instrument. I have a pedal case from Gator like this, and it's great. You could drop the case from a roof and be okay.

Not sure if Gator does this for full instrument cases, but others obviously do.

what exactly did you notice when comparing the mono case and the gator progo?

i've seen the mono's up close and was very impressed.

what does the gator progo bring to the table that the mono does not?

just doing my homework. i'm sure our brethren and sistren would appreciate opinions in this 'case'. ha! made a pun! :roflmao:

I tend to agree about cases and gig bags. Cases are too heavy and bulky, and gig bags are much easier to deal with. Having said that, I'm not terribly up on the latest cool models. My personal Quantum-6 has an oversized peghead and I use an old Mooradian gig bag that fits. If you're a New York session bassist that mainly rides taxis, you'll have different needs than someone living in the country. If you're a rock star, and have roadies with muscles, pay them to carry around your axes in a bullet-proof flight case.
