G-K not that available in Canada?...Pity

That Scarb store is really small and there isn't the demand locally for much beyond p.a. rentals, beginner gear and sheet music. I live 10min away -sigh-. I recently picked up a Swart amp and had to go to this store called Mojo Music in Oakville to get it. Great store, lots of high-end gear, every pedal you wanted to try but never saw is there and they really know what's up. Well worth the drive IMO.

We have a L&M here, I asked for a USA Fender P 5er, they said that If they brought it in and I didn't buy it, then it would cost me 10% for re-stocking. Um, forget it, I'll go elsewhere .

They had a used USA model, a 4 string, and who ever strung it put the strings on in the wrong order, and it sat that way for quite sometime, even after being told.

The L&M in Vancouver, the "bassment"(?) if I remember correctly had a great selection of bass gear. They even have a Dingwall AB, which I just might go an check out, but gassing for a SuperP.

(To the Toronto boys; I grew up in the Beaches area, and left when I was 21.)

I've had a lot of frustration with L&M on stock levels. About 75% of things I've wanted to try, including GK Neo cabs weren't in anywhere in the province. I did get my MB Fusion 500 from there though. Depends what you want and on timing I guess. But all three Calgary stores have given good service, when they have things I want to look at, anyway.

Well, based on all the pretty good reviews I have read here and elsewhere and seeing as there doesn't appear to be a Neo 212 anywhere in Canada except L & M Abbotsford (if its still even there) I took advantage of the 20% off offer by Musicians Friend and ordered it. Fairly close to border so will get it shipped there and cross and pickup. Even with the crap exchange rate plus the Visa percentage, I am still $140 bucks cheaper and...hey...its in stock!

L&M Oshawa has been great to me over the last decade or so. Great staff and always match prices for me on almost anything I have wanted to buy. One of my Favorite Oshawa employees just left to manage L&M Cobourg and I'm sure that location will be great as she is amazing to deal with.

The manager of L&M Markham (Dan) is also a great guy and a monster bass player. He also isn't afraid to bring in cool stuff like Dingwall, Fodera and other high end basses/amps.

Scarborough is a dump with a crappy bass section and the Mississauga staff are almost all morons IME.:p

Oh, re GK? IMO they have a great selection of GK heads and cabs at every store I have been to but I am suprised that they don't stock more of the inexpensive combos.

I am in Whitby (Brooklin) BTW....

I live in Brampton and the L&M there is one of the better ones, the bass selection however is just ok.

I agree about the Scarborough store, I work at Markham & Milner and it is one of the worst L&M's I have ever been into, however drive 15mins north to the Markham store and it is pretty decent like Baird6869 said I have seen some nice Dingwall's, Fodera's and Ken Smith along with a good selection of amps.

I tend to frequent the mid-Toronto location (Ossington) despite living in East York. I've heard enough terrible things about the Scarborough one, plus not having a car means getting to Oss. location is simple for me.

Agreed that it's a lot of Ampeg, Traynor, and Mesa. Although this store also gets an alright selection of Markbass, and a little less good Fender. GK seems to be random used gear, for the most part, besides 1-2 new MB heads in most of the time. Actually, now that I think about it, there's usually some Orange stuff as well. I guess this store finally gave up and has catered to the crusty punk/metal crowd which seems to flock to that location in abundance...

There is only one good L&M in B.C.I'll say it again, as I've visited most locations.The Terminal store is hands down
the only store with stock and good service.The other locations are not worth the time or gas.Period! I've been dealing
with this outlet for at least 25 years, and have seen the decay of not only product, but customer relations.Young snitty
managers have replaced the long time good guys.It used to be a great way to spend an afternoon there.Not any more.It makes perfect sen$e to order from M.F as even with our low
buck, not only are the deals way better, but selection and availability.I'm ordering a bass that L&M used to stock,
but in the finish I want, is not available(?!!?).M.F has them by the truck loads and over $70 with exchange cheaper. Mesa and Traynor amps?
No thanks.I like to look at a menu.I'm not on a diet.I wish there was competition in Canada to the Toronto based mega robot store.It has long lost it's mojo.Too bad .

hey now that is bizarre.......my wife lived on Dawes Rd for a few years as a kid

starting to agree with everyone one the Scarb store....was in there on Fri and the bass selection has really dropped...the main bass guy there said they only sell 1:4 or 1:6 basses per guitar ratio, but I suspect even less.most of the stock they have there has been around for a looooong time, I know becasue I go there almost every Fri afternoon....

went to the Pickering store on Sat.....a better selection of brands and maybe 1.5x the number, but it is a small store....tons of guitars though
and the Markham store last summer was just like night and day in terms of selection of basses and amps etc ....only one of the 3 with Orange gear (see my avatar :D )..but that store is a pain in the @!#$#@$ to get to from Scarb

anyone been to Cosmo lately?.....great music store/concept....used to have a decent selection and number of basses and amps etc.....I haven't been in 8-12 months so I don't know the latest info

I was lucky enough to find a gk 212neo used in L&M in Edmonton in December. I wanted an mbfusion 800 but they ordered it for me and got it in a little over a week. I have had nothing but excellent service from L&M and they stand by their return policies. Mabe they havnt a huge GK inventory but you can order from their warehouse. It was a fluke finding the used neo212 because it wasn't on the web site, just saw it when I went in.

Cosmo is pretty good. I get up there fairly often mainly for obscure stuff L&M doesn't stock.
Nice to see Cobourg getting a location. I grew up in Port Hope and remember the 2 El Degas basses that hung in the Radio Shack for about 4 years. We would do anything to get to Toronto and go to Steve's. A couple times the walk down Queen from Yonge seemed unusually long until we realized we we're on Bloor and at L&M by mistake. :D

Thats pretty cool - the dude at SS Edmonton thought there may be a used one when I called him way back in the beginning . Funny - was just through there for Easter because there wasnt enough snow in my life in South BC. What did you get it for? Took my new one out for a gig - love it - I see great things in its future - actually playing around with my Strat through it for the occasional song I want to play guitar on - its not bad...
